Hey everyone,
I just got a message about violating the rules as my submission (https://codeforces.net/contest/1719/submission/168578470) is apparently too similar to (https://codeforces.net/contest/1719/submission/168549952) [written by my friend during the contest]. The thing is that I know I have not seen his code at all during the contest and my solution is my own (I also believe that it's very different but I'll let you be the judge). However, I am using the same template as my friend I was supposed to copy from. He allowed me to use his template (it was published before the contest and can be found here: https://github.com/JaroPaska/competitive_cpp_17 ). I'm quite used to it, so I would like to keep using it in the future. The problem is that my rating for the given round has been rolled back and the system message mentioned that if this happens again, it can result in my account getting banned.
I don't really care about the rating but the ban would be very unpleasant. Also, we have been using the same template for a long time and this is the first time something like this happened. Do I need to stop using the template to make sure that my account does not get banned? Is there something else I can do? (I already commented on the round announcement).
Thanks for any advice :-)

Hopefully MikeMirzayanov can regrade your submissions and manually override the similarity case. It looks like this is pretty legit. I'm not sure how the code similarity engine works, but it might just be a matter of not enough people having used this template before so it isn't recognized to be common code yet.
The punishment is reverted. Sorry about it.
Hi, no problem, I understand that the system is not perfect and it just got confused. Thank you for taking your time and looking into this :-)
