*1500 rating problem not much feel like *1500 problem 2 years ago
the fact that my improvement over time is less than overall population improvement
really make me depressive, realize that even get blue title is hard for me.
aside that my performance on virtual-participation (from old contest) is getter better.
so it's really weird
I think the main factor is that learning cp is very easy, as there are basically unlimited resources to use to improve, so people just keep getting better by using those resources. cheaters could also be affecting this, but estimating the % of cheaters is very hard, and it's also kind of a lame excuse instead of admitting it's a skill issue
I would glad if it is skill issue, but much seriously I'm thinking IQ issue.
I could say that anyone on earth, man or woman, old or young, who puts in the same amount of effort in cp as I have, will become a Master at the very least.
you are putting effort, but in the wrong direction
you have solved 4 1800's and 15 1700's, just solve more of these and you should be fine
I separate practice account long time ago, I solved 82 on 1800 and 98 on 1700 and still suck at green-cyan. it's over.

I do practice just like regular person.
setup timer for 25min. do best effort on 25min without any interrupt. (no hint, no tags, whatsoever)
in case of fail to solve in time but at least have idea set timer to 10-15min again,
if still not work then see editorial and other red peoples code
Your way of thinking is right. But it is recommended that when reading editorials, do not just stay to understand the ideas, and then read and feel “I get it", more to understand the logic of each step of the problem solving chain of thought (why this step from this step to think of the next step, what is the point of entry), this way of thinking in fact, is to continue to accumulate to form a sense of solving problem. Then maybe it’s about how you practice. If you think enough and solve each problem carefully(for example, don't read the editorials), you can get blue quite easily, I think. For me, I only read the editorials after I solved it. I would rather spend lots of time on only one problem to understand it fully, instead of doing plenty of problems but didn't think enough.
I do the same thing, i guess that the most important thing in problem solving is how did you come to a solution(process of solving/thinking), so i mostly prefer to solve the problems without editorial(it's not related to new topics)

i really dont think its an iq issue. I reached expert in about 6 weeks from newbie, and I really wouldn't say I am exceptionally intelligent or even close to that, I just really tryhard and put in effort every day. Also i am sure that there are masters and gms who have lower iq than you, but they put in so much effort and succeeded. Don't give up.

Rating deflation/inflation isn't an unusual phenomenal, it also happened in the Chess World and FIDE had to put its hands to work, but just saying that problems are getting harder isn't going to help at all, although a lot of people have the same feelings, you also need to PROVE IT and then Mike would do the proper changes.

Sorry Mate. But everytime I see any blog posted by you, this comment is the first thing that comes to my mind.
I wished deleting all blogs about depression and focusing on practice would stop negative thoughts and improve performance. but the reality was harsh, and virtually nothing has changed.
Getting a higher rating is not what fixes depression.
Fixing depression is necessary in getting a higher rating.
Being in a bad mental state really hurts contest performance. For me, I noticed that I would often do contests very tired because CF rounds are early in the morning for me. My average performances would be lower than virtuals. One time I failed to solve A and went back to bed. Diagnosed depression would be many times worse than this. Fixing is not going to be easy, but it may be the best method. Taking a break for a few months, dealing with issues in life, and changing my life was really beneficial to me.
That being said, if your mental health issues arose not because of external factors but because of CP, then you gotta brute force change your mindset or quit if practice is not enjoyable.
You can only compare contests from 2 years ago from your experience, but try 5! The difference should be even more obvious.
First, I noticed it when div 3 was introduced. Problems that generally should be rated 900 started to be rated 800. There was rating inflation boom or sort. I don't think it is ok though. Especially for beginners.
Then with the boom of gen AI authors started to make the (mostly easy) problems less "obvious" keeping the problem's rating the same or making it even lower. Not sure it is smart either!
From seasoned competitive programmer (low blue or higher), these changes may not do much. Like you think on the problem 3 minutes longer :), but for beginners it's a disaster. The fact that now beginners don't only need to think on the solution but to think on interpreting correctly problem statements is a clear added level of complication. If you do so then increase the problem's rate also.
So, yeah. Every 2 years or so you can clearly see that problems are getting harder and harder.
I am not even sure if such contest would make sense for low rated participants in 3-5 years. Gen AI will get better and fixing cheating problems will become harder, but the common sense should not be harmed because of it. Don't do problems harder if the were not that hard, like, 5 years ago.

It's literally devouring low IQ people like me. I almost feel like AI development is progressing faster than my improvement at this point.

Don't try to solve a bunch of 1700-1800, this will not help. Instead, try to slowly increase the rating of problems you are doing (for example if you can solve 1800s consistently within an hour, try to do the same with 1900s). Also, stick with problems from recent contests because earlier problems are much easier than modern problems.
It's difficult to be sure if it's harder or not,compare to luogu,recent problems with difficulty 2200* could be purple problems but now it's hard for 2300* to be purple and they are mostly blue problems as it's regarded to be easier.
