is CP worth it? If I'm not CS background

I’m a student with a passion for theoretical physics, not computer science, but I got into competitive programming just for fun. Honestly, there's this amazing feeling when I finally solve a tough problem—it’s super satisfying and keeps me hooked. I’m naturally curious about a lot of things, and CP feels like an exciting challenge.

But since I’m not planning on a CS career, I’m wondering if it’s worth sticking with CP. Has anyone else here kept up with it even if it’s not directly related to their field? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

  1. It improves your critical thinking abilities, which can always come in handy.
  2. It might just well become a backup plan for you if your main goal hits a dead-end, you can then use it as a safety net.

Pursuing CP as a hobby is anyways great ... keeps you mentally active and really improves your analytical thinking and problem solving skills

I have a lot of friends who are planning to get their education in the field of microchips and semiconductors yet they are dedicated to CP

Doing CP is not like an extra chore but rather a precious addition to your skillset. Hence, i suggest you should keep yourself updated on CP

Even if you leave cp , it will always be your that ex who you will always stalk .

I am afraid it's too late, much too late.

This terrible affliction, CeePee, is a virulent strain of CeeCeePee; it has taken over us all without mercy. In due course, you will have to pick one of those highly lucrative offers from JetBrains and such, which will take you away from your beloved physics, and theories at that. Had CeePee been around in Isaac's days, falling apples would still be mystifying people around the world. Relativity would have never seen the light of day (what is the use of it anyway?), if Albert had C++.

Just remember, don't take advice from fellow CeePeeErs ...
