The International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) is a global organization established in 1978. It connects over 200 independent Ombudsman institutions from more than 100 countries worldwide. The IOI focuses on promoting good governance, human rights protection, and the rule of law.

The IOI supports its members through training, research, and regional subsidies for projects. It is organized into six regional chapters: Africa, Asia, Australasia & Pacific, Europe, the Caribbean & Latin America, and North America.
