How do you guys try to learn from your mistakes and make sure you do better the next time? I have seen many coders who have a gradual increase in their rating, I would like to emulate the same but have been finding it tough.

The most important thing for me is to find all my bugs in every solution.
Then I write its down and trying not to repeat them again.
Also I just like programming very much :)

That's the first point. And when the topic starter becomes stable in lieutenant's rank, we will reveal the second one ;)

Because that's right when self improvement goes sequentially, from simple things to complicated ones. If you want to know, I can give a piece of advise (for you, for example), but I don't recommend to follow it if somebody is in green color yet.
Namely, I'm speaking about the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving by Genrich Altshuller (this theory is based primarily on Georg W. F. Hegel's dialectical method). Using of these technics let me raise my TopCoder rating from blue color to yellow one two years ago. You can check how impressive it works just looking at my Rating History of that period of time.
