How do you guys try to learn from your mistakes and make sure you do better the next time? I have seen many coders who have a gradual increase in their rating, I would like to emulate the same but have been finding it tough.

Namely, I'm speaking about the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving by Genrich Altshuller (this theory is based primarily on Georg W. F. Hegel's dialectical method). Using of these technics let me raise my TopCoder rating from blue color to yellow one two years ago. You can check how impressive it works just looking at my Rating History of that period of time.
