Good luck Everyone.
Hope you do well :)

Unfortunately, the Egyptians were prevented from participating
On what grounds?
Politics :/
Here is the latest IOI 2017 contestant list with photos and Codeforces handles.
Will we be able to see live standings tomorrow?
Will there be a live mirror for the contest or something like that ???
I really wanna know what would I have accomplished if I got to participate in IOI 2017.
me too, usually online mirror is held @ https://contest.yandex.ru/ioi/?lang=en I hope this year will be too.
I was looking for the information about contest start in my timezone but I didn't find it so I created it by myself.

lol are you serious
Welcome to Iran!
What about South Korea? Was it correct?
I think they don't participate in IOI.
Oh the flag is wrong. It's North Korea who are not participating.
It's a good thing they are not participating, because their coach probably carries poisonous sprays, to prevent what happened at the IMO:
http://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy-defence/article/2074200/n-korea-maths-whizzs-long-hong-kong-ride-freedom
Hey,it's kind of racial discrimination, and it's really disgusting to connect OI with politics!
I still can't imagine what happened if this was the other way around -- showing South Korean flag on the North Korean team.
The flags of South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands, North Cyprus and East Germany were also fun...
LiTi told me that teams with wrong flags received an apology in a GA meeting, with some souvenirs. :D
I gladly accept that apology, and although I'm not with them, I think our team will also do!
Is there any online live scoreboard?

Tired to wait? You can solve IOI 2017 Problem 2 right here! https://www.acmicpc.net/problem/1659
Also, we have a solution written in Korean, by former IOI winner! http://cubelover.tistory.com/8
fast af, as expected lol
???: Hi , so to me seems like a notorious coincidence.
I'm almost sure that the problem that appeared on the regional contest 10 years ago won't affect any contestant. Though it might be a subject of investigation if the IOI problem author was, let's say, inspired by the knowledge of the old version of a problem.
Well maybe 10yr old regional don't matter much, but I sent that problem to snarknews for training camp recently.
But yeah, our contestants were probably not affected — at least we didn't teach them in this year's camp, and there is no AC from them in online judge. As a tutor I'm feeling very sad now...
Also, I don't understand the idea of copying problem from the 2007 paper. Is it enough as far as contestants don't read the paper?
http://cgm.cs.mcgill.ca/~godfried/publications/akiyama-chvatal-festschrift.pdf
I wonder how it feels to write a paper in a group of 8 people which is then posed on a contest for high schools students where it is solved by ~50 guys.
proud that their work helped ~50 high schools students got 100? :P
To be honest I don't expect most published papers to be very original. There is simply too much pressure on people to publish.
I have seen similar problems more than one times. Here are some I can recall:
The problems mentioned above are old, but there is a even harder version of IOI P2 in recent USACO 2016 US Open Contest, and definitely some contestants like yutaka1999 (who is the rank2 of IOI day1 and rank1 in that USACO contest) had solved this one lol
Problem: http://www.usaco.org/index.php?page=viewproblem2&cpid=650
Solution: http://www.usaco.org/current/data/sol_landscape_platinum_open16.html
I think people make too big a deal out of "originality" of problems. A truly original problem would probably get solved by ~3 people (or less) and be irrelevant to the contest as a whole.
When I started competing I was really surprised by discussions where problems that (to me) looked like they were built around very obscure facts were described as "standard".
Any problem that gets solved by 20+ people at the IOI has to be related an existing problem/idea in some way.
Being original and being standard are different things.
That's a good point, though I think that the difference is often quite blurry. I'd find it rather surprising if "wiring" was consciously copied from an existing problem.
You are an amazing competitor!
Do you think that isn't true? I'd be really surprised if it wasn't. Like what are the examples of some of the IOI problems that were solved by that many people where nothing similar has appeared before?
lol I simply can't make any example beside ioi 2017 wiring / ioi 2014 wall / ioi 2011 race
Maybe I was too lazy on solving other problems?
Hey SeyedParsa,
I've been trying to submit using java but the site shows only make2 which compiles only CPP solutions ...
You were right, I think it is fixed now.
thank you
