Hi Codeforces community, especially Indians
I was feeling sad while reading this answer from I_love_Tanya_Romanova and felt really bad that many indians are making the reputation of there country bad. It is a humble request to all indians to read this answer, especially point 6 onwards and try to behave in a more better manner.
Today I also saw the below image on Endagorion facebook profile.
Literally, what would you get by tagging someone in someone else profile photo. Then these "_/_" comments, i can bear them now.
So, indians read the above answer and behave properly. The name of country lies on hands of all it's citizens.
The Quora answer reminded me of this parody comic:
Can you please explain what it says?
Loose translation.
[mother to son]: "You're reading your books again! Look at my friend's son who finished 9th grade and went to the army. He learned to make ceilings and already made his own company. And you're just sitting here reading those stupid books. Why did I give birth to such a worthless son!!!"
"Don't worry mom, I know what I'm doing. Anons on 2ch told me that programmers earn $300 per hour. I bought "How to become a programmer" courses for 99999 rubles (around $1500), tomorrow I'll get a degree and become a certified programmer. Stop destroying my dreams! There's a massive lack of programmers out there!"
[later, son to HR employee of a company]: "Stop!!! I have a degree, I know C/C++, Java, C#, Python, JS, Ruby, PHP, English, German and Japanese languages at native speaker level! Is that not enough? I also completed 10 courses recommended on 2ch!!!!!!!!!!! I have an active position in life! My mom is ready to pay you each month if you take me!"
"Young man, please, I told you we'd call you. We have 50 candidates for this position, it will take some time to decide. And anyway, you don't know Chinese, Assembler and HTML, so you aren't suitable."
"CYKA BLYAT!!! [later] Hi, 2ch! As you all know, being a programmer in 2016 is very lucrative. I'll teach you how to earn at least $300 per hour, subscribe to my seminar and you'll get free coffee and a barbershop discount..."
Indian competituve coders are annoying af
saying a bangladesi coder
Do I have to be from a different country to call shitheads, shitheads? I am Indian. I live in India.
hey, just because you are an indian competitive coder does not imply that indian competitive coders are annoying af. You know that you are not the only indian competitive coder right?
Vicennial and kr_abhinav . he wrote about this.
Indians worship good competitive programmers.
Lel. For 2 reasons....
1. A guy who just became candidate master is good?
2. Why worship? That's just stupid.
.
Stupidest people ever.
actually vicennial belongs to category "Stupidest people ever. ". Their Ideology::>>> When someone is 1899 ,he is normal human but when he get +1 and becomes 1900.OMG,HE IS GOOOOOOOOOOOOD.
Lel... 1859+1 = 1900
I can see you're really salty. Calm down and stop spreading your racist dogma. There are great people of every race on codeforces that will be willing to help you and learn.
How is this even related to this blog? I posted it on my own classmate's profile and the post was meant for our friend circle and it isn't even serious.
Anyway here's some additional context:
Source: Check comments
After reading kr_abhinav comment on quora, bohdan will be like
It doesn't matter if it was for you or for someone else.Main fact is you do this shit in name of fun.
It doesn't matter if it was for you or for someone else.Main fact is you do this shit in name of fun.
You're acting like I'm shoving it down your throat.
a) It was posted on his wall. Not on cf,not on some blog but his own goddamn facebook profile.
b) Privacy setting was:
Kumar's friends of friends
. Not public. Are you so alone that you never have fun with friends?
That's why I describe my perception in a single word: “Idiots.”
Cool. Think what you will.
Here's my perception of you: "Coward".
You must be so brave spouting shit about people behind that fake account.
Such an intense discussion here :) I didn't even expect this answer to be mentioned at CF when I was writing it.
Come on, such posts by themselves are not bad, especially when they are actually for fun. I think they are not much different from a situation when I'm trying to complete marathon, have to spend 4+ hours on it and then on post about it I receive comments from my friends or relatives like "You're going to qualify for Olympic Games soon". Of course some 2:20 runner will think they are stupid, if they will look as a serious note, not some joking around or irony or friendly pun.
More important thing here is that other factors make some people believe that such posts are not jokes. During the time I spend doing competitive programming, I got an impression that for some fraction of such posts/comments it is not about having fun or showing some cultural differences (like maybe it is common for some cultures to exaggerate it this way and nobody think it actually means the way it sounds... similarly to how you answer "I'm fine" to "How are you" in some cultures) — but about actually perceiving it this way. And not in a healthy way like "he reached such a good level in 1 year, people beating him started practicing it while still being in high school", but with some "He was ranked 5th in some local CodeChef event, so he's probably 5th best in the world".
Fact : They're not joking. They actually worship them. And the "gods" reply with thanks, when they receive "_/_" from their devout followers. Go to facebook profiles of any 3 shitty candidate masters, who stopped competing after reaching purple. You will find at least 1 post with "god" and "_/_" in a serious non-pun, non-joke manner.
Okay, so when someone congratulates me, whatever might be the reason, what should be my response according to you?
Also, please send me the directives us Indians need to qualify so that the our comments are not taken in 'non-pun, non-joke manner' manner :)
You can reply "-_-" or "*_*". You can say, in a matter of fact manner, "Guys, I'm just a candidate master. I'm no god. But thanks for your wishes :)"
That's the very point you're missing, God was meant to be a pun in the first place :P. Anyways I'll note your point, thanks
please send me the directives us Indians need to qualify so that the our comments are not taken in 'non-pun, non-joke manner' manner >>"PARTICIPATE IN NEXT 4 RATED ROUNDS WITHOUT BEING BLUE"
It won't be pun or joke then, would it? It'll be just the opposite :) Nevermind, this discussion will go nowhere, so let's stop this here. BTW I agree I'll most probably fall back to blue in the next contest or two, and that I'm not good enough to be persistent in div 1 yet, if you'd have stalked me more you'd have even seen me mentioning that :P
stalking you? you really think yourself as god.xD
What else were you doing in the comment box in Quora, copying out our clarification replies to Bohdan, and writing this comment here which has no relation with the blog post whatsoever ;)
I'm not sure how humour among friends can piss someone off that bad
Peace out friend, no reason for this useless debate :)
Okay. So you hate us for having fun , right? Totally fine, please go ahead. Hate us, down vote us, abuse us as much as you want, generalize our case to every Indian participant. At the end of the day the point remains to be — it's your opinion, and it'll do both of us good if you keep it to yourself, and not spread hate everywhere. I seriously don't understand though why you got offended by some friendly leg pulling which wasn't even meant for you. Anyways, peace and love friend, I hope you see past your hatred someday :)
Actually this reply should be under Tanya's comment. He was the one who started all this.
His quora answer was absolutely correct, and I agree with it 100%. It's just that his answer is being wrongly perceived by those here, and they have got a reason to take out all their frustration from some bad experience with some Indian programmers, or maybe just some misinformation, I don't know.
Just ignore I_love_Captain_America I think many indians (and people on codeforces in general) are really awesome. Some of them help me when I am stuck on a problem :D and it has brought me to do harder problems. You cannot generalize a whole race, and don't worry, most people aren't as racist or bigoted as I_love_Captain_America is being.
Some random Indian guy to me : Do you know [insert God's name]
Me, to the random Indian guy : No
Random Indian guy : OMG!!! How can you not know him? He's GAWD!!
Me : Not my god.
Please stop this nonsense bullshit.
Indians be like... we have 33 crore gods lulz
(Only Hindus will get the joke)
33crore+3(red)+15(orange)+>50(fucking purple gods) lol
Youu're forgetting codechef.... and guys who get jobs. They're all gods. Don't insult their divine powers by not mentioning them.
says the 1765 max with 70 contests lol
How does that have any relevance here?
These two guys are Godfrey Harold Hardy and Srinivasa Ramanujan
The second one has sent some strange mathematical writings to the first one and got a good job to get an outstanding combinatorial results afterwards (that's how it was shown in "The Man Who Knew Infinity").
Well, Bohdan I_love_Tanya_Romanova hasn't managed to become any influental in a sense of someone's employment, as much as his new FB friends haven't managed to come up with smth complicated.
So the plot of our new film about competitive programming is: «Skinny boy who feel depressed about inbox messages and poor guys from the slums who crave to get a red nickname and keep staring at standings/comments for hours and years». This story is so much inferior in comparison with that dramatical stories about mathematicians, it could've been a little bit more sophisticated from both sides, but it appeared to be so miserable)) I don't even want to make a single sketch of it.
I have a feeling you're insulting him, but your English is so bad I'm not very sure.
I have a confidence that my comment is readable, but I have a feeling that you're unable to differentiate the notions from meanings (I was talking about cinematographic art).
That's ok, man, you'll find out how to do that eventually, mb after a couple of books that you'll read after 40, that's my second confidence. I haven't read a single book in English, to be honest (my bad).
UPD I've made an update in prev. comment for you.
https://www.reddit.com/r/iamverysmart/
Huh, another one (I don't even know who's that guy is). I may be smart, but that wasn't the point. Those red hindu coders don't have a right to insult Indians so publicly.
I'll clear that out for you. I was telling about those honorable scientists who, even being dead, inspired Matt Brown to make a huge work on filmmaking. And all what Bohdan (who supposed to be great somehow too, mb not in his FB chats) just did a great waste of digital paper (so the getitright's post is the only thing he got). Looksery project seems fo be the only one interesting thing that those reds came up with (in a very ordinary way of a partnership with American businessman with a good skillset from Israel).
They say that programming and all good things that is related (mb good English) is their religion, but they're so boring and ordinary at the same time so noone actually give a fuck what they say (and modern cinematography may be the only way to make them interesting somehow, but I don't see how exactly even I have overread on that subject, only ICPC team story may look dramatic in some 30min movie, and what is the most funny thing is that successful ICPC team from India may look good in 2hrs film, just like Ramanujan).
I am sorry to say but none of your comments make any sense.
Hi.
Randomly saying hi to someone definitely doesn't make any sense.
Oh, the irony.
Glad to see you're actually aware of its existence.
Too bad you use it to catch a dinosaur who is unaware of meme culture.
Ok, it's already dark on the street, so I'll get back to my businesses)
Here's another of your favourite classic memes that sums up my reaction to your posts quite well:
==============================
Oh that guys who trained themselves to sit in front of monitor for weeks... Go and take a bath.
I had to read wiki:facepalm. I'm making my first steps on codeforces. How pity.
You're talking about yourself?
================================
I've only remembered that I actually heard one meme recently, it's "take a bath".
It was a video with a random guy (he is even kinda famous, as I understood) who did a speedruning world record in the computer game from my childhood (SW: JK JA is a huge nostalgie), he was constantly saying this "take a bath" after "nailing" some tricky "timesave" or "menu management".
You Xellos are definitely one of those who's on a quest of perfectioning themselves and so the coincidence in some problems is likely to be quite possible)
Just read I_love_Tanya_Romanova long post on Quora like few minutes ago, only to open CF and find people speaking about the same thing..oh well.
Am I really at the point in life when people want to make fake Facebook profiles of me?
Что за хуй?
Endagorion I think you misjudged his intention when he tagged Himanshu Mishra in your pic. Maybe he wanted Himanshu Mishra to see who you are and also there is no reason to be offended with this act. Keep Peace. Spread Love. getitright Please stop judging India and Indians. We are good people with good intentions. Do you get it right ?
Peace out!
This is not my profile, I have no idea who made it. Judging from the fact the profile has ~15 Indian friends only, my guess would be that some Indian guy did it (and the comment too). Doesn't really serve your point, does it?
Then why is there an Indian misbehave hype going around? Please stop it. I also read a quora answer from I_love_Tanya_Romanova where he insulted Indians.
Also getitright maybe you need a wake up call instead of Indians.
I never said anything against Indians, so I am not sure what you're asking me to stop, and why. Regarding Bohdan's answer, I could confirm that most of the facts he states are true, yet I would rather leave the judgement to someone else.
Facts are true by definition. Unless its an "alternate fact" which is gaining credibility these days! :)
http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~agricola/Trump-Riemann-Hypothesis.pdf
Exactly, those leftist alternative facts pushed by leftist fake news. Like the one about Russia hacking the US elections.
"no one claimed that"
"there's about a dozen articles about it just on Wikipedia"
Pick one.
So you tag your friend in some guys post just because you want to show him who is that guy ? You proved that you are stupid.
Yeah, tagging in fb comments is hella cancer, send them this on messenger instead.
Not me. They're not my Gods. I don't behave like them.
Haha, all this is so fun to read! I remember when Swistakk commented something about CP on my facebook and he immediately got like 20 friend requests and he was shouting at me for a couple of minutes :D
By the way, this kind of stuff happens even within the country itself. It is true that these people assume that since you are Indian or live in the same city, then you're some bro and you will help them cheat in contests or somehow help them get high paying jobs, but I guess you just ignore those things, similar to how lots of guys try pathetically hard to be funny or cool next to a gorgeous girl, to the point of her annoyance. Once, a few of us had a couple of hours of fun just sharing and loling at all these funny messages we get. They can be much more imaginative/funny than you think. It is just sad that so many people who are actually nice IRL are amazingly unprofessional in their online conduct.
And I need to emphasize incontrovertibly, not all of us are like that, don't make it a stereotype(although I guess it already is).
Actually, I use "professional style" to distinguish a perforced techsupport-monkey from a human while reading e-mails, mb in a bit different direction than you think.
Informativeness, on the other side, is hella important. We're supposed to use this militaristic HTTP to exchange smth. And, you know, that quotation that I've made is kinda enough to get a point of your purely professional (khm-khm, what is the profession, btw?) message.
P.S. But certainly, I've google-translated this "emphasize incontrovertibly" and remembered, thanks to you.
P.P.S. I don't even know why I've upvoted your comment, what a shitty reactive thing)) Someone should make some machine learning on that I believe (what a good hometask for Xellos although he already has one Rosenblatt neuron in his head :D).
I don't understand a word from all your comments. How is your milk?
Hey I do remember you, you're that guy who came up with a theory of how to get positive feedback by joking. I do respect your linearization of that problem, but recently I've read (it was S7 journal of... July? not sure) that google-big-bro has fired all his linguists who was involved in machine learning so your model seems to be outdated for now) That's MY feedback for all comments you've made on CF (it seems that I eventually read most of them).
Oh man I've increased the doses, as you probably can see.
Well my English is a mixture of GTA: San Andreas, Star Wars episodes/games, and google-translated words, what do you want to get out of it? But it appears that it translates well in reverse direction using the same google.translate, so I keep writing and feel ok about it, because when you're on codeforces in a company of a guys like you are, the only meaningful thing is WHAT has been said, not how actually (I do care about amateur readers much more that about proficient).
That's exaggerated :P. It was more like 2 friends requests and I don't think I was shouting for a couple of minutes :P. But I confirm I wanted to like/comment something on your profile a few times but decided not to do so because of that xD.
