I'm the example of a person, who was not regular on codeforces once I touched Expert. I did this to improve my academic grades which I did but I lost my competitive programming skills which I had 6 months back. I was not as excited as I used to be. So, What am I supposed to do, to get that excitement back in competitive programming?
If you are not regular in competitive programming definitely you will feel some difference in your logic. I suggest you, be regular. The kind of difficulties I am facing, even you may face them. Some people say competitive programming is not important in placements This is the better answer if you feel competitive programming is not important.. ~ This blog is shared by Shubham Pal Siriuslight from my college.
P.S — Btw how is my DP?
A note about the linked Quora post:
That is a survivor bias. You only see those people getting job opportunities in some big name companies, but you don't see others that failed in interviews or didn't even pass a CV screening. There are thousands of people on codeforces and other competitive programming platforms, it'd be incorrect to conclude that CF improves your chances of getting a job in a company just by looking at a handful of people. Moreover, there are thousands of people working at these big name companies, the majority of them aren't competitive programmers (there aren't that much of competitive programmer anyway).
Competitive programming is definitely not the ONLY way for those companies you aspire to work in. And it's probably not an easy way. In fact you'll have to learn many more in programming outside competitive programming even if you got the job by luck, so why don't learn them right now, excel in them and get the job with a shiny resume.
I'd say that if your only reason for participating in contests is to work in some companies, then you most probably should revise your plan.
Well, SIMPLE , you don't see the other side of the story. I failed in 12 interviews before I got a job. CP is just not everything.
