tmwilliamlin168 is on read only mode right now. He wanted to message Mike as he feels that the decision to mute him was accidental. Here is what he wanted to convey:
"Hi, I received a system message about a read-only mode and I suspect that it has to do with my comment "Fact: If you do competitive programming then you will die" (or something similar)
I think the moderators misunderstood my comment and took it as hate / threat. It was supposed to be a joke, since everyone dies when they get old, and the condition "if you do competitive programming" is unnecessary.
I hope the moderators of Codeforces can understand that I did not intend to be rude in any way."

plz unmute tmw :(
if you dont unmute tmw you will die
If you question the ban, you ...
This is unacceptable. As a devoted member of william lin fanclub, I demand an official statement from codeforces moderators.
I suggest to provide the reason for muting. Currently, users are only being informed that they are in read-only mode, but not given the reason or whatever rule they broke. This is bad when misunderstanding occurs. My friend rotavirus was being put on read-only mode multiple times and maybe if you told him the reason he would be able to avoid making the same mistake. Also, Savior-of-Cross is also confused on why he is being put on read-only mode recently, as he is not aware of making any vulgar or offensive comments. Therefore, I think it is necessary to provide reason of muting.
Honestly, reading rotavirus's comment history, I'm surprised they don't yet have a permanent ban...
please , call me Eva instead
ok rotavirus

I got muted once for writing "orz" and the automated system that's supposed to send you a message broke so I didn't even get the generic read-only message. Incredibly disappointing. It's an outrage! Imagine the sobbing of the children as they do not even realize they have been muted since the automated message is not sent (in fact the reason they are muted is their friend took their account and wrote "I love X" many times in blog). Why does codeforces wish to restrict our demonstrations of respect for our peers' algorithmic prowess? It is simply illogical. It needs to be rectified!
Do you love codeforces? I love codeforces. That's why I propose that we promote a new content moderator for the site, namely, me. (Qualifications: mildly entertaining meme posts, knowledge of the english language, has a heartbeat). Let's make codeforces greater than it's ever been, together.

I once got muted for telling a joke related to competitive programming.
So sad.

Was it about my rating?
William Lin, with all due respect, it's hard to differentiate between a joke and genuine hate, especially online. That being said, I know that your intentions were not seeded in hostility, so I hope you can be freed soon. #GoodGuyJava
I don't see how anyone could read: "Fact: If you do competitive programming then you will die" and thing it was genuine hate tbh, unless english is your second language (which could be the case idk). You will die != I will kill
