Hi all,

Recently, I was reading this blog post written by kuroniorz and it was very saddening to see the current state of the CP Community.

I came into this community thinking that it was a warm, welcoming, and fun community. I really enjoyed the CF community.

I was wrong.

The community, is dark, harsh, and unforgiving.

A coder (apparently his name is Karan or smth like that) cheated on a contest (Codejam 1A). I didn't understand the exact details of what was done.

But the response disgusts me. ------------

First of all, kuroniorz, this is directed towards you.

If you suspect he is cheating on a GOOGLE contest, why the fuck would you post it on the CF blog. Also, WHY THE FUCK DO YOU WANT TO PUBLICLY SHAME HIM? WHAT DO YOU GET FROM IT?

So a guy screwed up. Deal with it. (Also, you basically just showed yourself to be a person stalking Karan's submissions)

Publicly shaming him and asking for more hatred towards him is NOT THE CORRECT way!!

Asking MikeMirzayanov will not get you anything either, unless he runs CodeJam.

Instead, please privately email the CodeJam round managers (or whoever is in charge) of what happened, and what you suspect.

Also, every guy fucks up at some point of his life.

Don't be too mean towards him. I think he already regrets his decision.

To the rest of the CF community:

Just remember that day in school when the teacher catches a student cheating. Does the teacher tell the entire class? No! She takes him into a corner, and discusses it.

Do his friends shame him for the rest of his life? No?

Be a bit more sympathetic.

Nobody should have to delete all of their handles because someone shitposts about them. Neither should they receive continuous hate about it.

PS: I am writing this because of all the hate the CP community has given Karan. I do not condone his actions.

Oh my god, not only are you bringing this topic yet again, you're also annoyingly whiny.

Guy did a bad thing — got shamed by the community. It's nothing new and it's nothing surprising. Real-life harassment and doxing is unacceptable and pretty much everyone agrees on that. Shaming someone for cheating is normal, making memes out of it is hilarious.

The sentence "So a guy screwed up. Deal with it." has to be record stupid on your part. You somehow manage to imply the blame is on everyone else for not dealing with it instead of the guy who did a bad thing.

Grow up. Codeforces is a helpful community for competitive programming. It's nothing more and it's not supposed to be.

    Hating on him is fine.

Shitposting on every blog he has made and making a person scared to the point where he deletes his blogs is not.

    This is a line.

    You people have crossed it.

This will be my last comment about this because it's really getting old.

The guy didn't even apologize, the only response I've seen from him was whining and blaming others. It's only natural the community shuns him for an indefinite amount of time.

Nobody likes people with a huge ego and everyone enjoys their downfall. Not a great human fact, but a fact nonetheless. Can he recover from it? Depends mostly on him, doesn't seem very promising so far.

Now move on and don't act like the community owes you any explanation or has to abide by your personal moral compass.
