UPD1: Solutions!
UPD: Dear all, ABBYY Cup 3.0 online part will take place today!
Some notes:
Good luck at the constest!
Hi everyone!
We are happy to announce ABBYY Cup 3.0, the long-expected programming contest! As promised, this year’s participants are to be given the tasks which won our programming problem contest.
ABBYY Cup 3.0 has two parts, an online and onsite one. The first part is starting very soon – Wednesday, June 12, 17:00-21:00 Moscow time.
We would like to give our personal thanks to Codeforces project team, especially to MikeMirzayanov and Gerald, for their help in running contests. And many-many thanks to all of you who participated there! Dear winners, please don’t get surprised that you can’t recognize the tasks you once sent to us, simply because they could easily be reserved for the onsite part and also because we could modify them seriously.
The details
The online round includes 6 tasks, 100 points each. All these tasks are divided in test sets and arranged either in two or three groups according to complexity level and point value. The first scheme implies there are an “easy” group and a “difficult” group of 30 and 70 points respectively. Another scheme provides three groups (ranked as “easy”, “medium” and “difficult”) of 20, 30 and 50 points per each. To add, we have a surprise in stock for you and this is a marvelous heuristic task!
Official contest languages are C/C++, Pascal, C# and Java. You can program the tasks in any language supported by Codeforces, however the jury has no guarantee that complete solutions do exist for all the languages enlisted. Passing the whole chain of tests is necessary. When points are equal, time penalty is used according to ACM rules. Any fully completed test set means a fully completed ACM-task and is a signal flag to set time penalty for other contestants. Besides this year all participants will be in rating. Registration for ABBYY Cup 3.0 opens 12 hours before the start of the contest and closes when the contest is over. Just a brief reminder: winners of April tasks contest can take part in this one but won’t fight for ratings.
What’s then?
According to the online round’s results, 25 best participants are to meet in ABBYY Cup final, July 17, which takes place in company’s Moscow office along with ABBYY Open Day event. Food and lodging will be provided by ABBYY, travelling costs compensation will be dicussed individually.
Good luck!
I hope it will be great like last year
What will be the duration of ABBYY cup contest ??
Sorry got it .
Is it rated ?
sorry for my poor english, did you mean it would be unrated?
It means this year all participants will be in rating.
sorry , I've search for word "rate" using crtl+F and didn't find it
i was just confused with his word "Besides".
Is there no T-shirt award in this contest?
will div 1 and div 2 contestants be rated separately?
slow judging. :(
Sorry to say, but testing speed sucks ~
Penalty for resending = 0 points (except penalty time)?
painfully slow testing speed!
I think, We are waiting for ABBYY Cup 3.0! :D
I'm sorry to say that, but I'm not enjoying the contest at all.
Waiting for 15 minutes is awful, especially when you would like to check the correctness of your solution to X1 before submitting X2 and X3.
Argh.
I'm sorry about it. Many participants + ICPC-like rules made queue for some time. Submissions sent from 2013-06-12 17:44 to 2013-06-12 17:50 (6 minutes interval) was judging for 15 minutes :( Fortunately, we changed the situation and most part of the contest passed well.
We pay attention to such incidents and working to improve our infrastructure. Right now we are purchasing new judging machines. I'm sure it will improve judgement speed much.
Thanks for the answer! I hope your new machinery will allow us to participate and have fun without worrying about server issues!
Thank you very much for the contest.
The problems were interesting enough! Thank you!
It seems to me that ranking system is not fair to the guys from the very top. Look: tourist took second place and got +7, however peter50216 won the contest and got +91. It seems strange, since expected place of tourist was #1 while peter50216 was expected to get the fourth spot.
I think that should happen because before the contest, their rating difference is 500.
You misunderstood the expected rank of the rating system. You can refer this to know how it's calculated.
Finally became red ~
Now you've got motivation? :)
I don't care
~.~ it's really sad to see cheaters always exist and we cannot do anything about them. While it's transparent (at least to anyone who's been doing competitive programming for some time) that there are cheaters in top 25 of ABBYY cup, namely scli and technolt, nothing can be done. Based on their submission time and different coding styles, it can be deducted that their submissions are not the work of one person...
It's sad that we cannot see them being banned without solid proof of their cheating actions.
How on Earth is it so transparent?
Look at their submission history during the contest. You can see they have super-human parallel debugging — coding skills. After having failed one problem, they don't even bother spend time debugging. They submit and got accepted in other problems. And fast! This is nothing strange, if it is a team contest.
For technolt, they don't even bother try to hide it, look at all the different code templates for A, C, E.
Well, I don't see the big difference between her templates for A and E. But, yes, you have the point — his template for C differs. That's pretty strange. Maybe we should ask her?
But, you reminds me about people who says that it's impossible to solve and submit problem in two minutes, because you need at least ten to read the statement and understand it. It's question of skills and practice. I can read really fast, skipping a lot of words, when I need to (and sometimes I skip some important information, but it very useful for first problems). About solving and typing: again, question of skills and practice. For example, I saw tourist typing quick sort algorithm in ~30 seconds.
As for me, it's a common practice (rather rare, but still) to work on one problem, fail on samples, switch to another problem, and undestand what the bug was right after submitting another problem.
See E2, not E1. Another person's name is written at the top. Now the 2 templates are almost identical, so why did he use 2 different templates?
I know solving problem in under 10 mins and parallel coding-debugging are both possible. But to be able to do that throughout most of the contest time while problems are this hard? Now that's a different story.
Well, it's not that I like arguing about this topic, so I'll try to stop here. Cheers :)

I think, they need to be disqualify too
i don't know the difference between the online version and the other version that is announced too .
i am new here , and it's first time to know about abbyy cup . :)
Is the online version of the finals going to be a rated round?
Yes
something is wrong with the link www.codeforces.com/contests , it's broken, i have tried many times.
Right, it is because of the contest on it is not a public. It will be fixed after the official contest.
