Hi, My friend and I have been working on this guess-the-song website for a while now, and we'd really appreciate it if you could try it out and share any feedback on design, gameplay, difficulty, suggestions, or anything! This isn't really related to competitive programming except that this game's addictiveness is $$$O(n^2)$$$!!

Not gonna lie the game's quite fun, but can't be played remotely, else a lot of cheating would happen. +_+

      I didn't mean like a serious kind of cheat. Like when friends play cards, people sometimes tend to cheat a bit right. So, like that kind of I meant.

Bro this shits good and addictive! Would love to contribute money for a better server! Currently the site seems to crash on high traffic.

There were a few bugs that arose with lots of users. I think I have squashed those bugs though, so feel free to keep trying out the site!

Wow, this is so much fun! We were playing it for like 4 hours today with some friends and have enjoyed it a lot! We've learned so many new Ariana Grande songs :D

The only issue we had is that all the libraries (idk only for Bollywood and EDM) are quite small, so the game slowly turned into who better remembers the songs we encountered before :( If you could improve them that would be amazing.

I somehow missed this post 6 days ago.

Thank you, very cool service! What I like is that there is a wide scale of points you can score and also here are ratings. However, I'd like to compare this website with two others: binb.co and beatquest.fm (the first one seems to be a fork of the other one or something). What they have:

  • categories (doesn't matter, I usually play hits/charts anyway, sometimes rock though).
  • different rules: i don't say it's good or bad, but there you score 1 pt if you guessed either artist or the title, and you score 6/5/4/3 pts if you guessed both (first three to guess get 6/5/4, all others get 3). So one can score 15*6=90 pts maximum per round.
  • fixed time per song, it doesn't stop when it's guessed
  • a common room for each category, you can't start the game only for yourself or your friends.

The last two things are not good in general, they are differences. In this sense your service looks pretty much like thesongclash.com, you may also take a look.

What I don't know yet in your website:

  • is rating equal to 1200 + the number of games played?
  • does everyone in the chat see my guesses? will the round finish if I guess the title?

Feature requests:

  • please autofocus the guess field
  • it'd be great if one could iterate over last attempts using up-down arrows while the guessing field is focused, just like in the terminal; it'd be a killer feature (very convenient if you are trying to guess if it's "i can't remember to forget you", "can't remember to forget you", "remember to forget you", "forget you" or smth), binb.co has it, beatquest.fm doesn't.

    Hi! I know about binb, but hadn't seen the other two (beatquest and songclash); they seem super good. Will take a look; thanks for making me aware of them!

    Rating is actually something that changes only when you are playing against other people (though the thing where it increments by one in solo games is a bug, oops). And yeah, currently everyone sees guesses and the round finishes if >half the people guess the title

    Those are really good features; will definitely work on implementing them!

    Thank u! We used React and Material-UI for frontend, Node.js for backend, MongoDB for database, and Heroku for deploying! (Also, Spotify API for music)

Hi! I wanted to bump this post so that

A) more people see the game to help me stress test the site :)

B) Comment on how.. Wow, stress testing websites is so similar to the frustration of getting a problem incorrect on codeforces because of test case 96... It is the simplest bugs that pop up at the most unfortunate times D:
