Zhdun's blog

As you know, Codeforces recently added the ability to scroll through the user's rating history. I decided to take this opportunity to find out how long this wonderful service plans to exist.

To do this, I went to my page, looked at my rating

Spoiler

Next, I began to zoom out as much as possible. At one point, I got something that looked like the flag of Indonesia.

After zooming out a bit more and scrolling a bit to the right, I found that at some point new divisions stop being added. To be more precise, this is about the 251st millennium:

It seems that we are close to a solution! It remains only to zoom in to see a more accurate value.

So, 275760 is, apparently, the last year of Codeforces' existence! Let's zoom in even more to get the accuracy up to a month...

Let's continue to improve the accuracy...

Bingo! Codeforces will cease to exist on September 13, 275760. I don't think you should worry at the moment. The date will not come quite soon, because no exiting time calculator accepted such a year.

Please write in the comments what code you would like to save in case of Codeforces closure!

This is quite hilarious! :v But on a more serious note, yes, I think, Codeforces should put some concern in this rating graph zooming system.

This feature should be deleted.

I believe that this feature should remain, because it helps us to see the smallest changes in the rating in the rating graph.

Hope I can reach red by then

This is likely because the page uses JavaScript to display the rating graph.

JavaScript's Date objects have a range of 100,000,000 days before/after January 1, 1970. This means that JavaScript can only display dates up to September 13, 275760.

Well, fortunately, at least it's not bounded to 2038 :)

Well, I never knew that codeforces is such an ancient site. Like it has been in existence since 271821 B.C.E !!

I just saw ruban's graph. Boy, does he live by the saying "Practice makes perfect". Jokes aside, I admire his love for competitive coding/ problem-solving in general.

I see its just a flex of reaching CM. You didn't have to do this sarge.

While exploring the new ability to zoom in on the rating change graph, I stumbled upon a strange thing: there is a strange white stripe between each rank! Why is it needed?

I also noticed a strange thing: when you approach the rating too close (just a numerical value, on the border), then it becomes a fractional number! Why this saddle is a mystery!

And I noticed that if you bring the edge in the rating graph as close as possible, it will become VERTICAL in the literal sense of the word.

There must at least be a "Reset Zoom" button. I have to reload the page to get it right again. And mostly while scrolling on a profile, when I don't even have the intention to change zoom, it gets changed.

If we talk about innovations, tell me, last year there was a feature in the new year theme of codeforce, when you point at the garland in the logo, does it light up? Was this feature added this year, or haven't I noticed it in the past?
