Why there is no contest?

at the first year of foundation of codeforces, more than 100 contests taken place, and at the second year 50 contest, and now less than 50 contests...! last year, there was 1 or 2 contest per week but now 2 or 3 contest per month! I think after a year it will be 1 contest per year!!

UPD: finally one contest has been added! hope to see a full list of contests! thanks! :)

Preparing a contest is not an easy task. You have to wait patiently.

If you are bored while waiting, you can do one of these:

  • Solve problems in practice mode
  • Think of ways to attract more authors to prepare Codeforces contests
  • Prepare a contest yourself

    I'm agree with the first option! but preparing a round is not easy... I know lots of people that was trying to prepare a contest and sent messages to Gerald but he did not answered them or their rating was not high enough to prepare a round.....as you see the number of different problem setters is going to decrease! If you can prepare a round, then after you can prepare a lot of contests!

This is not quite true, take a look here. By year 2012, the number of contests was increasing by about 20 every year.

Though I must agree that recently the number of contests decreased a lot.

That's because Gerald and Codeforces team are very busy these days: they were in Sazanka training camp, then in their internal training camp. And Petrozavodsk training camp will be open in few days. After Petrozavodsk contest schedule should return to normal.

    About month ago I thought that schedule is composed in the way that 200 round will take place during the Petrozavodsk camp. That would have been interesting idea, but now it seems like there is no way to do that (between and 196 and 200 there are 4 rounds).

Nowadays, find a problem or a contest is too easy ... I am only going to mension some resources that maybe you are unfamiliar with them ...

e.g.

  • There is a lot of problem on SPOJ and it becomes larger && larger everyday, some of them are really fantastic.
  • There is at least 2 regular contest on Codechef ... and some problem is really hard to solve, I only solve 2/5 of them in Aug. Cook-off.
  • In china, there is a serius of online contest during every summer which been called as "Multi-University Training Contest", this year the total number is 10. Some of them is set by a school and some of them is set by some people, like YuukaKazami #3, sevenkplus #4,watashi #9 and ftiasch #10.
