While practicing on codeforces, often we come across some very interesting problems, besides thinking about their solutions, it interests me a lot to know that how did the author frame that particular problem. In a couple of months, I have to conduct a contest for my juniors in the college and it seems like I don't have enough interesting problem ideas, can someone, who is an experienced problem setter tell me about the general recipe that he/she follows to set interesting problems.

I often struggle with such problems which require some minute observation i.e. mainly problems with some sort of constructive approach or those which are based on game theory(without any rigourous maths). Either i am not able to find any sort of pattern or it takes me too much of time to do so. Can anyone share their approach towards such problems or some practise method that helped them to gain an edge over such problems?
