What kind of hard work it takes to become pupil or expert?

Hello guys i am new at codeforces! Please share your opinion on this topic as my ambition is to become Legendary Grandmaster. First i want to make sure that i am up from the grades of newbie.

Before setting any ambition, just look at whether is this worth or not. It will take at least 2-3 years(may take more) of heavy practice to reach grandmaster. Here is the reality of CP:

  1. Software Development: You are not required to be so high in CP for SDE. Candidate Master-Master is enough to crack any coding interview.

  2. Research: If you are thinking that CP is going to help in this then you are totally wrong. CP requires you to solve problems faster and also most of the time doesn't require any out of the box solution. My professor has done research in Graph algorithms and is not too good in competitive programming. You'll be needing more in-depth algorithm and patience for research.

Being too good in CP is not gonna help you in anyway outside Competitive Programming. Neither you'll be the first person to become Grandmaster.

Its good to do CP but don't commit so much just to become Grandmaster which is not gonna help you in any other areas of life.

Take your time and reconsider your life decisions. Don't throw your life. I'd love to listen your final decision.

    If one is a high schooler — CP achievements can be highly appreciated by certain universities. It is just the first material thing that CP brings somebody besides many mental things.

    Wrong, I literally entered the university I want to study because I qualified for IOI, cp can change your life if you have some clear goals.

      Which country are you from? In my country, there is no such criteria
