Context : so I tried to make a CP club in my university and it did not get a positive review. I really want to join ICPC but people love AI. I really want to gaslight them so that they realize the world is not only about AI.

Hi, I am a term 2 student in SUTD and a competitive programmer. I joined this university because I thought that I can be a pioneer in CP. Unfortunately, people here don't really do CP and the professors are also clueless. I lost NOI because I was cheated and I still feel unhappy about the result. I still want to continue my CP career. Does anyone also have the same issue? I really need some solutions. Thanks.

Is there not a single person who is interested in programming? I think you should try and find a friend who is somewhat interested, or has good math background and then try to introduce them into it. Then try to find more people and you will be able to make an ICPC team and maybe even a club.

There are lots of people that are good at math, but the problem is that the university really enforces us to do AI. There are lots of AI hackathon and less other stuff. There is fortunately a Leetcode grinding club that was just established in the previous term (yea Leetcode is the closest thing here to CP unfortunately) and I can probably get some people from there. Although, my friend warned me since their first question would be "Can I get internships with this?". I don't think they are passionate.

I mean, CP is extremely helpful for internships. It teaches you how to think abd how to code, which are extremely important for a programmer. In completely new programming environment, or when doing something completely new, a red would usually be able to adapt much faster than a green for example. Also, CP problems are often given at interviews for a company.

That is true, but I am aiming for ICPC (which also helps for internships). People here don't really compete because we collaborate more (apparently they don't like being competitive). So, I am trying to make a CP club as a facilitator of contests, rather than "get to google and forget about it" club.
