        A procedure in China team selection.

        Basically you think about a topic and give a speech, and the judges ask you questions on your topic. You will gain a score based on your topic and performance.

          why do they do that for a tst ? I mean isnt it better for participants to just prepare for IOI rather than having an extra work like preparing a thesis defence

In addition to taking absolute advantage in China Team Selection, Kangyang also has very deep and innovative thoughts that are capable of giving incredible observations to some long-standing questions.

For example, he pushed the theoretical complexity of the combinatorial sieve of multiplicative functions from $$$\tilde O(n^{2/3})$$$ into $$$\tilde O(\sqrt n)$$$, aligning with the analytical methods of Lagarias-Odlyzko from three decades past. (for more details, this link.)

He also gave an interesting solution to a counting problem which pleasantly surprised me a lot. Hope that this beautiful solution will be revealed to everyone in later soon! :)

    Remember, it's important to solve tasks, but the ability depends not only on solving tasks. The success needs many factors, like a good environment, strong resources, and support from family and schools, they're very significant especially in China.
