It means that you have the option to participate in the round unrated (e.g complete the problems during contest time but not receive/lose rating for it). You can change your registration type until the contest starts.

      Contest menu, click on the number next to the blue person icon, it will say you registered for the contest as (username):contestant and you can change it from there
