Software engineers are coping so hard about o3 it's unreal. Only one example of several I saw on reddit/twitter in relation to o3 performing at 2700 on cf:

Do these people not understand that AI being able to solve 3000 rated problems means that it definitely meets the 102 iq threshold for being able to fix whatever corner of the search bar on whatever site that these people spend months debugging T_T

I wonder if it's just insane cope or these people are actually mathematically illiterate.

https://www.reddit.com/r/learnprogramming/comments/1c6vr3s/how_long_does_it_take_to_be_a_good_competitive/?rdt=61508 . Read the first comment here. Apparently neal Wu, a LGM and a multiple time IOI gold medallist needs to "cut, script, prepare" videos of him solving Leetcode problems and this user says it so confidently and it gets upvoted. Stop taking reddit seriously lol.

well, to be fair, he needs to cut, script, and prepare videos of his AI fixing whatever corner of the search bar on whatever site

You might be correct. The majority of developers that I see online do not seem to rate Devin highly and that's fine. We should listen to them when it comes to opinion on development stuff if their arguments make sense. But I just hate when people talk confidently about things that they have very little idea about especially if it's in a negative way.

I just noticed that the guy in the screenshot is a “top 1% poster”

The original post is heavily exaggerated too: https://www.reddit.com/r/GoodAssSub/comments/1hirq5t/openai_new_o3_model_is_equal_to_the_175th_best/

Getting 2727 performance in a single division 2 contest != having 2727 rating and being "#175 best competitive coder on the planet"

I was just commenting on how the original post was weirdly phrased. I don't care much about CP anymore

Why would you take anything from that site seriously? It is known that plebbitors hate anything they're bad at. Proverbs 29:23

yea lmao cp is "soul less", not swe where each project is just copy pasted bits from a bunch of tutorials from which you understood nothing. how stupid can one be

It's impossible to take that person seriously when they use words like 'retarded,' 'bullshit,' 'obscure algorithms' (this one is so funny), 'dehumanizing,' etc.

Sounds like this person was stuck at a low rating and didn't like solving problems. Such a biased post.

why American like this? redditor particularly. do they seriously believe they get paid 200k job in the US as an SWE because they are smart and creative?

Insane that they think their work can't be replaced when their work involves very little thinking/problem-solving, and very much coding lol.

I always found it hilarious how reddit SWEs whine so much about CP while probably not being able to solve a single 1500 rated problem. I guess they just want to feel like their lack of mathematical skill to solve CP problems is not their fault and downplay CP to make themselves feel better. Also, AI will definitely dominate some areas of SWE, specially whatever frontend BS that guy is doing.

Their souls leave their body when they get WA on tc 2 that is why they consider it soulless

I believe at this point word choices are just a matter of personal preference (and I tend to randomly pick one when many options are present).

"has nothing to do with actual software engineering"

This is quite funny, because the first job I've landed was in software defined networking and I got it thanks to my skills in competitive programming, because several problems were like "find optimal path in a graph as fast as possible". And I don't mean interview problems, I mean stuff we actually shipped to prod for our customer.

Also from my personal observation people who still participate in contests after graduating and having several years of work experience are really pleasant to work with, since they maintain the ability to get into the "flow" and can prototype really fast even if it has nothing to do with algorithm-heavy tasks. A this point their brains are just wired to concentrate and do a lot of intense work in a span of 2-5 hours.

And that's the experience of some random blue retard. I bet some IGMs from HFTs have even better stories about how CP helped them in their career.
