Good luck!
Rating top 2 in China,Itst and jiangly, got rk5 and rk6 in the selection.
What a pity!
What a pity!
Can they compete next year?
No, they will be freshmen next year.
Actually, if anyone doesn't get a gold medal and won't enter the university next year, he can take part in the competition again.
However, Itst and jiangly is already in Grade 3, so they will be freshman and have no chance :)
What a pity!
Can't wait to see China host a future IOI and their unofficial team casually bag another 4 golds.
Imagine if they write all the questions
Every question is going to be persistent segment tree with multiset nodes proceeded with moebius inversion + MTT 7 times + constant optimisation + some new algo no one has seen yet + data structure
What a pity!
Wish everyone good luck!
Btw, Deng has already got a medal in IMO lol
Gold medal, precisely.
strong!!
What a pity that 5LGMs took part in the last contest, but only one is selected.
Sorry to ask this but I am really amazed,
Q.1> but how China has so many reds,
Q.2> like from what age you guys prepare,
Q.3> do u guys have any maths background from before, or just training camps from seniors help you to achieve that,
can you describe the cp culture in china.
Q.4> Also, how do u guys train???
Q.5> Also China, Russia,USA are always at top in IMO,IOI. Any specific reason behind this.
1) Because of their education system, unlike the Indian one. 2) Varies from person to person 3) idk 4) idk 5) Chinese and Russian books, unlike Indian NCERT Books, are designed in a way to provoke thinking and improve mathematical logic. I once took a look at the Russian books and the problems are so good, moreover, Chess, one of the most thought-provoking games is made compulsory in Russia.
Though I'm an Indian, I feel these are the main reasons why India lags behind Russia and China in almost all olympiads.
This has to be one of the most useless detailed replies ever.
Let this remain the secret of top Chinese and Russian competitors.
I once ran the numbers and many Eastern European and East Asian countries have pretty similar "grandmaster per capita" ratios to Russia. China just sticks out because it is big enough so that the statistics alone guarantee enough people with strong gold medal and LGM potential every year.
Could you post the statistics? I'm genuinly curious which country would have the highest ratio
Antarctica, then Samoa, then Croatia.
The data is here.
There are some things to keep in mind here, though:
Question: Did you input the raw data manually?
Croatian population pyramid:
____
/ \
\ /
\ /
:(
If someone wants to run the numbers again, I would also suggest to use max rating and include also inactive users. For example Finland has 6 GM if counting max rating and inactive, but only 2 active current GMs.
There are many factors that contribute to the differences between countries, but the burden of hard work is still mostly on the individual. For example, in the US:
Q2,Q3,Q5: Most USACO students have a strong math background, the earlier the better. There are many math camps, contests, olympiad training programs, etc. Requires some guidance and motivation from parents.
Q3,Q5: USACO contests and camp are very helpful in guiding learning. There is not as much interest in competitive programming as there is in math olympiads, but fortunately the jump from math to competitive programming is not too large. Again, requires some guidance from parents to learn programming and prioritize these contests.
Q1,Q4,Q5: Any competition requires hard work and practice. Guidance helps, but only to a certain degree. There is no quick and easy hack.
Q2,Q3,Q5: Most USACO students have a strong math background, the earlier the better.
Is USACO a school or university ???

5 -> Hint: Look at their popluation!
Also Iran got really good results in IOI!
Congratulations! dlstsdy!
Todo lo mejor, equipo de China.
Predictions: 4 Gold medals Just look at their rating graphs do you see something common/weird?
practicing in a secret/less known Chinese OJ for years, then reaching high ranks after a short amount of time?
that seems pretty common for the Chinese tbh
How are Chinese guys so godly?!! Wow!! I wonder how you guys practice!
We should have a China B in IOI. Even they would finish in top 10 in country standings
then what if they host an IOI? there will be 3 Chinese teams? It's pretty unfair, I think. The USA and Russia do have a lot of talents, too.
I participated twice in IOI. I couldn't help feeling that I'm stealing someone's place. :( There are so many eligible programmers who are talented than me and I get to participate because our country does not have many competitive programmers
China IOI team to other countries team
Congratulations!Hope China team will succeed again just as what they did last year.
Congratulations to them and whish them good luck in IOI 2021!
Congratulations! As a Chinese OIer, I sincerely hope that the Chinese IOI team can have good luck and do well in the upcoming IOI2021!
Isn't Rewinding the first Chinese contestant to get to both IOI and IMO ? At least in the last 10 years.
gamegame is hk but should count
absolutely! gamegame is a proud Chinese contestant who will win IOI 2021
gamegame thank you for adding me as a trusted user!
why are we downvoted lmao didn't harris leung get to ioi and imo? or is hong kong not counted as part of china now .-.
Expecting gold medal from these guys. Chinese dominate all brain-related competitions. Even the teams from countries like USA, Canada and Australia consist of almost all members of Chinese/Taiwanese origin.
cheem me cant becom purpol
Everyone good luck! Get 4 gold medals this year!
Done.
Actually top 4, orz
emmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
How uninformed you are ......
After IOI 2020, now I feel that China team selection is harder than IOI itself :v
Haha that's true lol.
