Hello everyone!
I would like to talk with you about the competition start time. For now, the competitions usually start at 5:35pm Moscow time. It is an appropriate time for people, who live in European part of the Earth, but not so good for people who live in Asian part. For example, in China, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam and eastern part of Russia that time is close to the midnight and in some places its already midnight. I counted the number of people from different countries (data was taken from the “rating” tab) and that is what we got (you can see the local time in brackets, while in Moscow is 5:35pm):
India — 19843 (8:05pm)
China — 13267 (10:35pm)
Russia — 9210
Bangladesh — 6433 (8:35pm)
Egypt — 3051 (4:35pm)
Vietnam — 2489 (9:35pm)
Iran — 2083 (7:05pm)
Ukraine — 1791 (5:35pm)
Japan — 1726 (11:35pm)
USA — 1606 (10:35am)
Kazakhstan — 1581 (8:35pm)
South Korea — 1444 (11:35pm)
Brazil — 1337 (11:35am)
Belarus — 1304 (5:35pm)
There are no countries in the list where the number of registered participants is less than 1000. Data is not so objective, because the number of people that did not specify their country and how many of them is active participants is unknown, but still it shows an approximate distribution of participants by countries. Therefore, I think if the start time of the competitions will move at least for two hours earlier, it will be in favour of majority of CodeForces auditory.
