This was my first contest in topcoder & and I have become blue in one contest. Is rating gaining in topcoder easier because of less participants or am I just good enough to be blue in topcoder in 1 contest?

Rookie SRMs are like Div. 4s, they're relatively easy and gaining rating there isn't too hard. SRM Div. 2s are harder in comparison, and gaining rating there is not as easy. Lastly, once you make it to Div. 1, it gets much harder. Wish you all the best in future contests as well. Happy Coding :)
