Our main sponsor invites you to participate in another amazing event in their ecosystem.
TON Hack Challenge is a one-day contest aimed at finding vulnerabilities in smart contracts written in FunC, the programming language native to The Open Network blockchain with a prize pool of 30,000 TON.
Challenge starts on 23 Oct. at 09:00 UTC and lasts until 18:00 UTC.
The task is to hack 8 smart contracts. Each of these contains a major flaw that allows intentional bypassing of intended logic and stealing of all funds. As soon as the participant figure out the issue they are encouraged to hack the smart contract and get all the Toncoin. The prize will be awarded to the participants, who successfully hack smart contracts, and paid in TON. As soon as the participant figure out the issue they are encouraged to hack the smart contract and transfer all Toncoin from the contract balance (the bounty) to their wallets.
More information about the contest and additional rewards are provided on the website.
Here is the TON Hack Challenge checklist to prepare for the contest:
- Read the official docs and set up a developer’s environment.
- Make sure you have a couple of TON — actually, 2 TON is enough for all tasks.
- Learn how to compose arbitrary cells via fift, tonweb, ton3, ton(whales), tongo, pytonlib.
- Learn how to compose internal messages and send messages to the network.
- Study how to read tl-b notation.
- Register through the @toncontests_bot.
Two contest in one day with gap of only 30 minutes. Can authors postpone it for 1 day.
the two tests are so closed, it is not reasonable
I think so that the DUCK is a good THIEF as well (^◕.◕^)
We should hack like the mysterious hacker duck.
TWO DIV-2 CONTESTS ON SAME DAY 23rd OCT
Hacks and finding problems? Do you mean beethoven97?
Winner — beethoven97
Good luck to participants!
Two div 2 in the same day with only half an hour gap.
Moreover, none of the contests start at the usual time -_- . I think one of the contest should be postponed for a day or two
Has anyone here actually learned func?
Yes :)
What made you decide to learn it? To me it doesn't seem like a good use of time.
I cannot even find a single defi protocol on TON. The "apps" shown on ton.app show centralized exchanges and dexes built on EVM chains... In fact I googled and found some sketchy ton swap dex and the code in the github is in solidity! After two years of development and no dex... what is going on? The coin itself has extremely low volume and depth for supposed "7b" market cap and is not listed on any tier-1 exchanges (somehow I get the feeling the team has premined and held 95%+ of the supply). Aside from winning some contests what can func do?
I've learned it to participate in ton smart challenge this summer and to use it later in development of some DApps.
"After two years of development and no dex" — as I know, several independent teams on TON are currently working on dex's and other defi products and some of them already almost finished. Yeah, that's not really a good result, but still something. The problem was that ton foundation didn't really promote TON before this year and also a lot of people still think that this coin was closed by SEC, Durov or something else.
"Aside from winning some contests what can func do?" — it is the main programming language for smart contracts on TON. just like solidity for ethereum but with other concepts that are unique for TON blockchain. One of the biggest differences is that TON is asynchronous and ethereum is synchronous so developing for these two blockchains is very different. That can also be a reason why there aren't much products that are built on TON right now — most devs are scared of learning TON, and even those who aren't still need more time to learn it than to learn ethereum (solidity)
I just checked and saw you won prizes, nice. Can you link some dapps you built?
In any case, supply distribution still looks too sketchy for me to spend much time on it.
Good luck on the contest, hope you win.
Thank you! I have something in work, but didn't finish it yet.
As I know, TON Foundation holds like 12% of total supply, they use it for promoting, partnerships, integrations, prizes etc.
Other top wallets are probably early miners (maybe some of these are also members of TF, idk)
