Hi everyone,

We're excited to invite you all to be a problem setter on HackerEarth for our monthy rated contests.

The process for a submitted problem idea being used in our contests is:

  • Submit your problem idea here
  • The contest admins will review the submitted ideas.
  • If your problem is selected for a contest, the contest admins will reach out and ask you to prepare test cases and an editorial for the same.
  • Your problem will go live!

We have three algorithmic contest every month, here is the table:

Contest Number of problems Approximate Difficulty Length Comments
Easy 6 Like Codeforces Div. 2 3 Hours
DS and Algo challenge 3 Easy to Medium-Hard 1.5 Hour
Circuits 8 One approximate problem and 7 algorithmic, from Very-Easy to Hard 7 Days More educational, less competitive, we could use classical problems

The rate card for setter compensation are as follows :

DSA and Easy Circuits

Currently we don't have enough medium/hard problems, so if you propose a nice problem it may be selected for the upcoming contests.

this isn’t really relevant but last time i took part in a contest a few problems were literally ripped straight off codeforces (i literally copied and pasted my codeforces submission) so please improve your problem stealing measures so you don’t waste money

Sorry, why is this not relevant ?

We're mostly focussing on giving different setters a chance in every contest and sometimes people do steal used contest problems which is not always easy to track. But yes, once we realise that a setter STOLE a problem we do penalise them.

So, you need original problems but don't want us inviting setters who would propose them ?

I never discouraged paying setters to propose problems, but when you put money on the line someone's probably going to take shortcuts.

The problem I was thinking of is Segment Cost which is ripped right off Sheikh.
