UPD 3 Congratulations! to those who qualified for IOI 2014 :)
At first, DEGwer and catupper and yokozuna57 and yutaka1999 was chosen as IOI member of Japan.
But, DEGwer and yokozuna57 were chosen as IMO member of Japan, too.
And in Japan, it is impossible to participate in both IMO and IOI this year.
After all, they decided to participate in IMO and joisino and HIR180 moved up.
Is there any country in which it is impossible to participate in both IMO and IOI?
I think there'll be some people who were chosen as members in both IMO and IOI ...
In Russia there is such possibily (despite it's rare situation). Nikolay Durov has participated both in IMO and IOI back in 1998, and Dmitry_Egorov has done the same in 2011.
Next year after Dmitry_Egorov I also was a candidate for both national teams, and our team leaders strongly recommended (not to say insisted) me to choose something (obviously they meant programming), because of possible worse results. So I wouldn't say that's easy in Russia.
In Russia, that can be ,because there are many contestants .
However in Japan, many gold medalists enter both IOI&IMO
So the intersection of schedule is very serious(this year, DEGwer would be most competent in IOI team, even though he can't spent much time practicing for IOI, if he would enter both)
In 2010 all four members of Latvian IOI team attended IMO that year as well. :)
Some years ago, a Finnish contestant attended IOI, IMO and IPhO (physics olympiad) in the same year.
Do you know somebody who has attended more than three science olympiads in the same year?
In Slovakia in 2010, Ladislav Bačo got a bronze hattrick in IOI, IMO and IPhO.
We often have people who go to more than 1 international olympiad.
Suprisingly, I can vote you twice:
May be a bug.
EDIT: Click +1 then -1 very fast, you can vote twice.
EDIT: I have found more efficient trick: double click into +1, then double click into -1. I tried 3, succeed 3.
Lol, funny. I guess it's because you send 2 requests to the server and it doesn't have time to block the other one before processing it...
I have a touchpad, so it's impossible for me :D
It also reminds me of getting different times when div1 and div2 contests (which are supposed to start at the same time) would start. They often differ by 1 second (in either direction), also probably because these times arrive from the server at different times.
It is not working for me =) I first focus on . Then press enter, tab, enter very fast. How are you doing this?
I use mouse, not keyboard. I have tried a lot, strangely, I sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (I click very fast). The chance is about 50%.
I have found the more efficient trick: double click into +1, then double click into -1. I tried 3, succeed 3.
EDIT: Look into my screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/BYpLFWT.png
well, i guess it's a bug in the display rather than the site itself.
so unless someone else voted u up in the time between first screenshot and refreshing the page, i guess this isn't a bug after all! :)
Thank you, you are right :)
You guys gained a lot of contribution because of people testing your methods on your comments :)
Baklazan's in that situation.
I don't mean to boast, but I couldn't go to IChO or IPhO last year, because of intersections with IMO and IOI :D
So it seems to me that you have medals from 4 different international olympiads (not only in 2013, but previous years too). Did you already apply to The Guinness Book of World Records with that result?
There's the question of what we consider an international olympiad and what range of topics it could cover, but if we made the range reasonably wide, I'm sure there'd be someone with more.
I think we can use that source to decide what is the international olympiad. So you're probably Slovakian celebrity along with Marek Hamsik :P
If so, then I have medals from 5 ISOs (one from IJSO, too).
One unclear area is regional olympiads — the level of problems is often on par or higher than on their base counterparts, the region can get large (Asia-Pacific) and any countries can participate as guests... and they're between nations, so international works :D
Do you have any medals from IBO ???
Nope. Biology has too many facts to learn, that's not for me :D.
I was expecting that :D
IPhO, IOI, IMO & IChO
IPhO'11 Gold Medal
IOI'12 Bronze Medal
IChO'12 Silver Medal
IOI'13 Gold Medal
IMO'13 Bronze Medal
:O
Oh my God!
I think you cannot be such smart , even smarter than me . Hehe . i'm joking but really how could you succeed to do that ? Maths, pyshics , informatics and chemistry. you are troll and fake |!
So after all, IMO is still the hardest olympiad :(
What the lol ?
Omg IQ? Gennady++ ?
Yes, in Bangladesh too! People cannot participate IMO and IOI both in same year!
In Bangladesh we have Corei13 who has won medals in both IMO and IOI. But then IMO committee make the rule to exclude other olympic finalists to attend IMO. Although other olympiads don't have any restrictions.
Proof please (about IMO rule).
Hi eduardische, there's no proof, this one is kind of a unwritten rule here. When they select participants for IMO, they tell them beforehand that, if they are participating in other international olympiads, they are not going to be selected for IMO (even if they are the best choice for the IMO team).
I couldn't find anything like this in IMO Regulations, so I asked for proof. But judging from your response, he probably meant your national maths olympiad organizers in Bangladesh and not IMO committee.
Yeah, it's unfortunate then, but can also be understandable — if the training for the one olympiad is really time consuming, that they might want you to make a commitment — so you have to rigidly prepare for it to go. Sure you could just go to other olympiads as well without actually training for them, but then is it fair for those olympiads and isn't it better to let other students through who are willing to commit?
However, while I can understand the reasoning behind these types of rules, I disagree with strictly enforcing them — there are some people who can do really well in multiple olympiads, and some of the olympiads are connected in one way or another as well anyway, so with enough desire, even training can be combined in some ways — so that one subject can help another. So I think restrictions like this should be individual only and depend on the actual situation.
Yes, he was talking about rules here in Bangladesh (BdMO committee) . And it's true that participants can mess things up when attempting more than one olympiad a year. But as you said, there are some exceptions as well. Bangladesh has seen a little of both in the past. Hope they start making some exceptions for those special participants from the next year.
It's not possible in Taiwan several years ago. I don't know if it's OK now. In fact, there were two training camps to select team members for IMO and IOI respectively, and one cannot go to both of the camps.
Yes, in Armenia it's possible. But in this year it's impossible a IMO is at 3-13 July, and IOI is at 13-20 July.
Does anyone know how to insert
[user:abcdef]
into html code?Codeforces has already provided a button. When you post a comment, press the rightest button on the top, then you can insert a Codeforces user's ID. Hope that helps.
No, there is no difference between writing yourself and letting the javascript to do it for you :)
See below:
i see that u are a big fan of Harry Potter! :D
Not so big. But I watch Harry Potter again and again to improve my english :D
u will never improve your english. because "improve" word means "become better". indeed u do not know, so u will never improve. but u can start learning english. by the way i would prefer to watch "Big BANG Theory" which is more didactic.
LOL
This logic is very strange — and very faulty. There's no way "you don't know" would imply "you'll never improve", since you don't improve by knowing that you will, and there's obviously an easy way to know if you've improved — by observing that your English is getting more similar to the one in what you watch.
You also learn a language by observing how other people use it. Such a method isn't uncommon, and actually works (there are people who learn a language by reading books in that language).
shut your fucking mouth up u fucking low fag. brainless kid having your name in RED it does not mean that u can humiliate others.. what a sniffy person u are. i wanted to tell him that u wont be able to improve your english. by the way who fuck do u think u are ?? just go to toilet and masturbate on your red name fucking brainless kid.
? i think you should be banned
mmm i think ur family should be banned... get out of conversation u despicable minion..

Arthur Pratti Dadalto:
Brazil team is one of the usual leaders, so that's very important information!
This topic isn't about football.
He just sent the names of the representatives of Brazil which was the goal of this topic. Yes, football is a stereotype of my country, and I am sure there are other stereotypes for other countries as well. It is not offensive, it is one of the few things we are good at. There is more money invested in football than education and other general needs, you can see that just by the fact of the next world cup being 'organized' here. Those guys getting to the IOI is a big deal, and every year there are efforts to improve our results, just like it is in ICPC. There were some great results last years, and the way I have interpreted your comments is that you are making fun of their work so far, as they can't achieve a great result just like other countries does. It is not personal, I don't care about what you think, just letting you know how your comments might be read by some people.
You have no idea what you're talking about, I'm pretty sure you are not that stupid. The fact that you're high rated doesnt give you a free pass to treat people that way.
Why are you guys blaming Zlobober? I think that Bredor started that line of jokes. His comment was clearly sarcastic.
Hey, Bredor was the first one to say bad offensive joke, I only tried to smooth it out. I respect your country programming skills as well as I appreciate your football talents.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone.
relevant comment
Previous participations aren't interesting. Previous results are. There's a difference between someone who got 2x no medal and 2x bronze, and someone who got one gold, but from this table, you'd expect the former to be an experienced veteran.
Sorry, I didn't mention that "IOI XY" means "IOI XY — no medal". I do take a look at ioi.eduardische.com before updating :)
I think that it is sad that in some countries there is a restriction to choose between IMO and IOI.. I participated both in IMO and IOI 2012. Maybe that unexpected qualification to IOI was a compensation for not qualifying to IMO 2011 which I desired and haven't made it because of many unlucky circumstances :P. I got two silver medals on IMO and IOI and took 2nd places both on national MO and OI, so I received nickname from my friend "silver human" :P.
And I have to say that I'm kind of ashamed that out of 4 polish contestants only 1 has an account on Codeforces. I will try to change that! So bad that mnbvmar didn't make it to the team, he definitely deserved that, but I think he is getting stressed on every important competition.
Swistakk, your english is even more annoying than your cool-stories :C
The final stage of CTSC2014(Chinese Team Selection Competition) is currently being held in BUAA from April 27 to May 1.There are 15 finalists, although I'm not one of them,I'm onsite as an unofficial participant.I'll update about the results after the contest ends.
Will there be a place to submit after the competition?
Unfortunately problems are in Chinese only, there isn't a English problemset. If you understand Chinese, maybe you can submit on a Chinese website.Competition Day 1 has just ended, the problems are very tough.
The closing ceremony has just ended.Team China:
1.Yu Dingli(Leoyu)
2.Xu Yinzhan(xyz111)
3.Shen Yang(sy2006)
4.Dong Honghua(dhh1995)
Why had you removed Bredor from the table? :(
Because that was a joke. And someone asked me to remove him. :)
Well, he is still in this table...))
Oops, I forgot that. Thanks :)
After I submitted information to the Google Docs, I was told that Kristaps Čivkulis' handle is how_to_become_purple. Can you please add that? Thanks!
Added :)

I would love to see Leoyu competing here again. He must have made big progress since Apr 14, 2013 (his last submission) as he is in China's IOI team now. :D
I think that SillyHook06 and Leoyu are the same person. 3738483 3534787
UPD: Now, I think he's downvoting me with a lot of accounts. lol (SillyHook01, SillyHook02, SillyHook03, SillyHook04, ...)
I don't think he has more than 70 accounts to downvote you that much.
Why is everyone putting downwotes???? In both codes there is wrote :
Author: Leo Yu ???
i just checked it, and all of SillyHook06's submissions have
* Author: Leo Yu
in them!but i'm not sure about ur claim of him being the same as Leoyu.
What about the beginnings of those codes ??? For example the inline int read(). They are the same !?
that's part of his template. many people would probably be copying templates for Fast IO and few other algorithms.
but only really stupid people (unlike red coders like SillyHook06) would copy
* Author: <some other username>
into their template!! :D2333333333333333333333333
Please, delete me from list. I don't know who wrote it, but I am not going to participate in IOI 2014.
Haha, I was worried you bribed the IOI Committee :)

All of us got bronze in APIO this year. Hoping for a good IOI. :)
Just to add — Hristo Venev's codeforces handle is mustrumr.
It's so bad that hza didn't come to IOI2014 T_T
WOW! At the moment Tajikistan team is the only team whose all participants have participated in the last IOI :D
Estonia, Sweden, and Serbia too! :)
Nope, "Andrej Ivašković Dreian95 Serbia 02 Apr 1995 2012" doesn't say anything about IOI 2013
hmm ur right. i misunderstood in last IOI to mean in any IOI before.
That's why articles can be important. Since the plural of IOI would have the same abbreviation, it makes sense to write it IOI as much as IOIs/IOI-s. You can see the difference between "the last IOI" (one) and "last IOI" or "last IOI-s" (any).
exactly. i got confused because the original comment didn't have "the" in it! :D
ok ok ok!! Calm down grammars, sorry for my English. I added that magic " the " ))

probably for the same reason that u don't set this as urs! :P
anyway, my point was that this profile pic looks sad to me! :(
Hey accidentallygivenfuck!
Can you add two more things to this post?
It will be usefull with no doubt :D
Nice idea :)
Maybe you could add Number of male/female participants too. It is always an interestingly data.
How do you tell who is male and who is female?
The same way he filled everything else (asking)... for Bolivia we are all males excepting one.
I don't think asking gender is appropriate. :|
But I'll add number of people who got gold/silver/bronze medals. I think it will be interesting. ;)
Asking gender? On the Internet? Everyone knows how that ends...
That's a good point. Well, it was just an idea.
Do you think people with experience (I mean, one or more IOI in the past) has some advantage against people in their first IOI?
I don't think so. You can learn algorithms and solve past problems (which is very important part of preparation) without going to IOIs. The only thing that is specific to IOI (and not to, say, national olympiad) is your level of excitement: the more you worry, the less concentration you have (usually).
No. Example: Baklazan. First IOI, gold by applying a clever strategy.
No. Example: all the chinese participants.
