Hello Codeforces!

The Harker Upper School's Programming Club would love to invite middle school and high schoolers to our Girls Programming League (GPL) 2023 virtual competitive programming contest on Saturday, September 16 from 8:45 AM to 2:30 PM PST.

The Girls Programming League is a one-day event comprising a programming contest, panel discussion, and awards, with the goal to inspire and empower women to participate in computer science, technology, and AI. Our theme this year is “Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence,” which we believe is a rapidly growing field that has important impacts and fascinating applications to explore.

There will be two divisions: novice and advanced. The contest is open to all middle and high school students identifying as female or non-binary. Students can form teams of up to 3. We will also be awarding monetary prizes, in the form of Amazon gift cards, to the top 3 teams of each division.

We'll also be featuring a panel of industry professionals in the field of computer science and artificial intelligence, as well as a United States EGOI Team Member. Our speakers this year include:

  • Christina Li, 2x USACO Finalist, 2023 United States EGOI team member and Silver Medalist,

  • Chloe Ma, Vice President of China Go-To-Market in Arm's IOT Line of Business,

  • Dr. Kim Hazelwood, Senior Director of AI Research and Engineering at Meta,

  • Dr. Xiao Li, VP of Engineering of Dasher & Logistics at DoorDash,

  • Dr. Yang Ye, Head of Product & Program for AIML Search at Apple.
