Dude, in a lot of places people get advised to work on number theory and maths as a beginner in CP/CF. But, as much as I have seen in previous few contests there are not much questions asked on number theory. Is it that the trend has changed comparatively and as a beginner, we need to work on some other topics, or still the number theory path is correct?

I meant what is the relevance of these topics — GCD, LCM, Euclidean and Extended Algorithm, Sieve of Eratosthenes, Modulo arithmetic(inverse),Lucas Theorem, Chinese Remainder Theorem, Catalan Numbers, Pigeonhole Principle, Fermat Theorem, Euler Totient, Matrix Exponentiation, Probability. I have done a few(till modulo) of those but am not sure if completing the remaining will be very fruitful. Should I be focussing on practicing more problems on topics other than number theory?

        Very relevant

A lot of other topics are important too, so yes.
