Your name (Dasha Lobas or Daria Lobas) suggests that you are a programmer from Ukraine. In fact, I saw your name in various Ukrainian competitions.

Are you sure? Because then we have a programmer from Ukraine (Dasha Lobas, EGOI participant), with identical name to yours. And also your coach Popyk_Andrey is from Ukraine.

i doubt it honestly, i know a girl who has been harassed by people from codeforces before plus i've seen dubious behavior in onsite contests too

Hello!

In my school, there are many girls that are smart and obtain good results in the math Olympiads. But, sadly, none of them really seem interested int CP. How can I also get them to like programming more?

In Romania, there is a really small number of girls that participate in CP Olympiads, making EGOI qualification not such a hard task for a girl that is willing to sacrifice a bit of her free time in order to improve her CP level.

I have tried showing them examples of people like Alexa Maria Tudose, or Alexandra Maria Udristoiu (past IOI silver medalists), but they say that they are too far from being like them and they would rather not try.

Thanks in advance!

Cristofor

maybe showing them how fast math olympiad people improve once they switch to cp would convince them , I believe any decent math olympiad kid would become expert-master in a really short time

honestly i think the elephant in the room is not addressed, the real reason why less girls participate in OI vs MO is mostly due to the male centric characteristic programming seems to have plus there are tons of sexist teachers.

it's needless to say harassment plays a role too.

still, it doesn't seem to stop some girls from succeeding, it's just that it would be nicer if more girls succeed too and in general if more people succeed too (this shouldn't be interpreted as in girls succeeding at boys' expense)

I might suggest focusing more on teaching the basics and fostering an enjoyment for CP (maybe by showing them cool problems/ideas or emphasizing the power of algorithms to speed up calculation) instead of overemphasizing the prospect of EGOI/IOI and intimidating them. Encourage them to just give it a try. If they enjoy CP, they will be motivated to work hard and commit to aim for EGOI/IOI, otherwise you don't have to force them to continue. High expectations can put a lot of pressure on people and deter them from starting if you frame it as an "all or nothing" scenario.

Hey bro, u can cheat us, but don't cheat yourself. It doesn't matter if u cheat us, we can just laugh and let it go. But we hope u can wipe the tears and don't let them drop on the screen. We can just belive what u said because it can make you feel comfort. We won't lose anything if we believe. However, u shouldn't believe what u said. Think again, do u trust what u said? We don't want to let u down, but who will belive u except us?

why does this blog have upvotes? lemme guess because of the simps. This isn't even anything related to competitive programming just a random person seeking attention.

Just a curious question. what is the ratio between your shining and your brightness, and what is the ratio of the difference of them after you start competitive programming ?
