There are already IOI and EJOI blogs on codeforces, but there isn't an EGOI blog. So I decided to write one.

Average of max ratings can be a misleading metric, since usually a master and a newbie are stronger than 2 cyans. Instead, something like the ;teamrate command implemented by TLE would be better.

    The IOI and EJOI blogs are based on the average of maximum ratings, which is why I did it that way. However, if your comment receives enough upvotes, I can remake the table.

    It is not a team competition though, so I don't think the ;teamrate command is a good metric either.

    I believe that the average of max ratings is best to know the average strength of each contestant from the country as an individual, which is what might interest most.

    Also, anomalies such as the one you mention can be taken into account by the one looking at the stat just by looking at the color of the handle, which is right next to it.

    If you wish to know how the team will do as a whole (like summing up their individual scores or something), teamrate isn't accurate either, as the average of a master and a grey will be closer to two cyans than two masters (which would be what ;teamrate would give you).

    Obviously, this is my personal opinion. I don't find any of the measures particularly useful, but I think that max rating is a far better metric than ;teamrate.

      Fair point. I was thinking along the lines of "1 gold medal is a better result than 2 silver medals", but both seem reasonable enough in their own contexts.
