My answer for the same question
oh, what a shame on me ... I'm sorry.
OMG, Petr's rating did not change even though he got 18-th place! o.O
now i realize how hard being red actually is!
At the same time, tourist got -72 for his 8th place.
Now i realize how big difference between good rating (like Petr has) and tourist's rating is)
Did I understand it correctly — it means that expected Petr's place in this competition was only 18? It looks a little bit strange, doesn't it?
Well, according to CF rating system, before the contest even I had ~13% chance to overcome Petr, so for me such expected place does not look strange.
Again, comparing with tourist — while I had 13% to overcome Petr, I had just 0.95% expectation against tourist, based on our ratings. And this explains why tourist lost rating after placing 8th.
Tourist once lost 22 points for being third and once he got 0 after taking 2nd place xdd. http://codeforces.net/contests/with/tourist
yes, also once he has got -1 rating after taking 2-nd place! o.O
Few years ago he got -1 after winning contest:)
Take a look:)
First time I appear in statistics
You know you're good when you get -72 rating for placing 8th...
