Hi!
Today I was shown a tweet https://x.com/deedydas/status/1818477947277525242
I'll quote the text here:
International Olympiad winners often go on to start world-changing things. OpenAI, Two Sigma, Telegram, Databricks, Perplexity, Devin, Ethereum, Udemy and even Python! You'll recognize some heavy hitters on the list. Nikolai Durov may be the most decorated of then all.
And there's also an interesting table there (I see Codeforcers there!):
Codeforces will soon turn 15 years old. Maybe this is an occasion to try to compile such a list? Suggest candidates in the comments! Please include at least three fields about the person: Handle, Name, and Career.
scott_wu from Cognition. (It's not a world-changing thing, but at least it's a thing)
it is a take-money-from-investors thing
I listed their early employees here https://codeforces.net/blog/entry/127049
I think it's a world-changing thing!
MikeMirzayanov, I think he founded a popular competitive programming site or something like that
That moment when you suddenly want to implement reactions to comments.
no rating appears on his handle he must be new to cf
BAHAHAHAHA
Similarly, there are a few others here:
Yeah, I heard it's called Codeforces !!
what? never heard of it
ACRush, Tiancheng Lou, co-founder&CEO at Pony.ai
he's already on the list!
right, I didnt notice. they should have used lower case though
yes that is awesome!!
speaking of 15th year , will there be a anniversary badge ?
But where's the GOAT tourist ?
Honestly, was wondering that to be the first comment :)
He not produced anything YET
and probably won't because of the cf rated contest's :)
I dont see codeforces in the image, Is codeforces present there with some other nickname that i dont know of?
He said codeforcers not codeforces
rpeng, Richard Peng, Researcher
Maximum Flow and Minimum-Cost Flow in Almost-Linear Time was co-authored by him.
For the role of a researcher, I nominate this
guyrock-star: https://codeforces.net/profile/Darooha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_SleatorI think they (daniel and richard) teach the same competitive programming course together at CMU.
He is the oldest competitive programmer out there that I know of. Makes me wonder who is the actual oldest competitive programmer that still participates every now and then.
MikeMirzayanov Can you please also address the rampant cheating that's been going on lately? There have been so many blogposts outlining solutions, and there are whole communities of people willing to do moderation work for free.
Mike orz, cheating not
s-quark Qinshi Wang, Researcher.
Discovered (Popularized) the usage of Lagrangian Relaxation in CP, now known by the infamous task "Aliens" from IOI 2016.
meret Jakub Pachocki Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of OpenAI
He is perhaps the most influential person on this list. He was the key person involved in GPT4 (Source).
dojiboy9 Deon Nicholas Forethought's CEO
It is quite funny to see that the former CEO of Alameda Research is on that table. I guess committing massive fraud is an achievement as well. Though probably the table was made before.
Amir_Parsa Founder of theforces
Hopefully it will never reach 500 downvotes.
uwu, Max Jiang, my goat
uwi, goat java cp'er
fotiIe96, founder of persistent segment tree.
I’ve scanned through the table 3 times and I can’t see codeforces, am I blind?
Codeforcers, not Codeforces. Ngl I also thought the same as you at first.
Handle : Sir-Ahmed-Imran Name : Ahmed Imran Malik Career : Student
(I see Codeforcers there!)
Is it YUGABYTE ?
Nowadays people became really very toxic :)
I just wanted to know where is codeforces in that list(maybe with its parent company name just like facebook, Insta etc is known by META), nobody answered, instead downvoted :)
Read carefully, They said Codeforcers not codeforces.
Yeah, thank you. That's what I want, I really didn't observed that.
AliFarhat leads a cult
Not true :)
That's what a cult leader would say
No (guys someone silence him)

AlexSkidanov. Alex Skidanov. NEAR founder
I've noticed in my experience that sports programming increases learning ability; it becomes easier to learn something new.
Matei Futaciosul, iordache_, funded the build of a children's hospital in the village Strehaia. He is a rich, well known person in the area, and his kindness helped improve the health of many young people that don't have the money to go to a city hospital.
Thank you, iordache_!
potato
Parag Agarwal was in India till his undergrad, he got his IPhO medal as an Indian Student
droptable Mikhail Rubinchik : Inventor of Palindrome tree (eertree)
Naohiro Takahashi, chokudai, the founder of atcoder
And the creator of the Chokudai Algorithm !
I think everyone who contributes to Codeforces is a real hero. Thanks to all who write, test, edit, and post contests, questions, or even a blog on this wonderful platform. :)
And of course, special thanks to the real hero behind the scenes MikeMirzayanov
Priyansh31dec, founded TLE Eliminators
I nominate Errichto and tmwilliamlin168 for taking the lead when it comes to popularizing competitive programming worldwide especially during the pandemic, which inspired many people, myself included, to make this sport better for all of us with regular content.
MikeMirzayanov : Codeforces
I would like to nominate myself, for my loyalty to Light Yagami
We will soon turn 15 years old as well :)
Qingyu,Qingyu Shi, founder of Universal Cup.
random.johnnyh — Johnny Ho, Co founder of Perplexity, I realize he is in the original list as well, and there is a significant overlap in the original list and codeforcers.
Probably add me because I will be in that list in coming 10 years. Don't judge me by my Handle color, it is grey for sure, but not for long.
I like you attitude, but it is quite hard to get good at this. I said the same thing around 8 months ago, but I haven't even gotten to newbie yet.
Name:- Mikhail Mirzayanov Handle:- MikeMirzayanov Career:- He developed some CP website.
@MikeMirzayanov ’s idea to compile such a list would be brilliant. Such a list will inspire both newbies and experienced coders to aim high. My aspiration will be to make it onto that list a decade from now. Although my current skills are nowhere near where I want them to be, I am determined to improve them with unwavering determination and ambition. I will pursue excellence and elevate my current abilities into a symbol of achievement. This is my journey, and I am focused on achieving my dreams every step of the way.
I believe in you too bro, you can do it.
I'm sorry but theres a difference between confidence and arrogance. Notice how none of the people who even achieved something great are commenting and yet here you are.
Everyone should believe they can do it, but announcing it without anything to show is empty words
Thank you for your feedback. I want to clarify that my intention was never to disrespect anyone, especially those who are highly rated and accomplished. I deeply respect and admire their achievements. My comment was meant to express my personal aspirations and commitment to improvement. I included my name as a way of taking ownership of my journey and goals. I appreciate your perspective and will continue to focus on turning my aspirations into concrete results. Your comment help me stay grounded and motivated.
No problem man. I may have been too harsh, but the world is harsh and will put down (or in this case downvote) anyone weak especially if they pretend to be strong. Only path is to actually be strong in whatever u do, respect is automatically gained. All the best for your jounrey.
Minilek (Jelani Nelson, professor at UC Berkeley) is successful enough to have a wikipedia page :)
pokorski (Karol Pokorski) founder of solve4.
socho and smjleo for creating UFDS server for ZCO/INOI aspriants !
Lucian Bicsi bicsi Cofounder and CTO of synaptiq . Seems like they are doing really cool things. He also had a cool youtube .
Caroline Ellison is definitely an interesting name to see there.
If we're naming researchers, then I also nominate Jakub dj3500 Tarnawski — one of the authors behind the resolution of one of the most famous and long-standing open problems — a constant factor approximation of the asymmetric traveling salesman problem
Probably a stretch at this point, but somehow this reminds me of the publication by EnumerativeCombinatorics and DEGwer on repeating wrong Floyd-Warshall algorithm three times, which is both interesting theoretical CS finding and practical for many CP problems :)
