Mercor is recruiting 50 Codeforces Grandmasters (or higher) for a research project with a leading AI lab. We’re also hiring Div1 programmers in general for another very similar role. These programmers would work directly with the research team to make their language model the best in the world at competitive programming. This will include:

  • Solving competitive programming style problems
  • Creating new problems from scratch
  • Evaluating how an LLM performs on these problems

Details about the role:

  • You can expect 20+ hours of work per week.
  • You will work directly with a prominent AI research lab team.
  • The work is fully remote and asynchronous, so you can do it around your schedule.
  • This project is scoped to last several months.

If you’re interested, check out this form (which also has more details) to sign up! You can also email [email protected] directly with any questions.

Some people believe that advancing AI in this field is not a good idea. However, I think this is a mistake, and I would be happy to discuss this topic with you.

In my opinion, we should actually help make this happen. Just like someone who had a carriage in the past was probably upset about the arrival of cars, it is a mistake to be upset about technological advancements. Instead, we should strive to update our work. For example, that carriage owner should have learned to drive. Similarly, if we see that our traditional competitive programming methods are no longer effective, we can change the style of questions and design problems that humans can solve with the help of AI.

We can both agree that more than 95% of people on Codeforces do CP for fun. I am pretty sure that a significant majority of them just won't enjoy talking with an AI about the problem and then copy pasting the code it writes...

Asking Competitive programmers to kill themselves along with their community paying peanuts just so some shitty company can flex, really not done
