Apparently, each Indian ICPC regional is going to have 5-10 slots exclusive to all-female teams this year (source).
Note that this is not an insignificant number, since 2 regionals have about 80 slots and the biggest one has 200.
I have some questions which I hope someone who’s more familiar with how icpc works can answer:
- Are regionals allowed to arbitrarily influence the selection procedure in this manner?
- Is this “feature” going to be unique to Indian ICPC or are other regions also introducing such slots?
We've had something similar in Brazil for a couple of years now. 3 slots for all-female teams, 2 slots for >= 2 female teams and 1 for at >= 1 female. I think there are about 60 teams in the Regional so those correspond to about 10%.
