The translation of the country name is not correct. The United Kingdom is not the same as England. Scotland is a part of UK as well as Wales and Northen Ireland. Please replace Англия with Великобритания or else upset Scots will not participate in Codeforces. :-(

United Kingdom!=England. United Kingdom=Scotland+Wales+England+Nothern Ireland We call it "Soedinennoe korolevstvo(Соединенное Королевство). Great Britain=Scotland+Wales+England, we call it "Velikobritaniya"(Великобритания).

Erm, not exactly. Great Britain = England + Scotland + Wales. United Kingdom = Great Britain + Northern Ireland (and in Russian it is correct to speak Великобритания meaning either United Kingdom or Great Britain). But Ireland itself is an independent country.
      * if not to take into account some special territories and colonies under UK government

The United Kingdom is not the same as Great Britain. The United Kingdom includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northen Ireland. At the same time Great Britain includes only England, Scotland and Wales.
The cause of these problems is London, which is the capital of UK, GB and England)

It's Ok, but we say "Американцы" (Americans) insted of US citizens, but USA is not the whole America. It's language thing, not logical mistake.

So, we call them Americans, because word "America" is in the name of their country and it is logically right. But it is wrong to use word "America" instead of "USA" in official documents. And using "England" instead of "United Kingdom" is wrong too. It is like using "Texas" instead of "USA".

So, well known phrase "London is the capital of Great Britain" is not true indeed. There is no written document tells this. Just billions of foreign "speekers".. :-)
London is the capital of UK and England, but not GB.

Sorry, this message was in Russian interface. Don't vote for it.

To sgaflv:

It's better to write to Mike Mirzayanov or Codeforces team in similar situation next time, because it's not a problem to discuss. And they will help you better than us :)

It's OK, I got it. I do read both languages. :) Despite the interface thing, I thought giving the link was useful to other readers as well. I often find interesting topics here, and not all of them are 100% related to programming.

At this point, I think, the message was delivered and also the relevant people received the suggestion on what else could be improved/fixed. I don't know whether you really disagree with me regarding the choice of topics, but I see no problem talking about "live, the universe and everything". ;)

Yes, you are right. I don't support a position that all topics here should be related to programming. But sometimes people create themes about little bugs in Codeforses. So, I think, it's good to write to Mike Mirzayanov or to use cforses.reformal in such cases. But your topic started a discussion in which we clarified the meaning of UK, Great Britain and England. So, it was helpful, thanks :)
