Competetive programming in high school

In my country, competitive programming is well-known in universities. but is not common in high schools. My question is, is there a club or activities in your high school for cp ? Did you participate / organise an event in your high school ? Should I start a club or it's too early for it ? Share with me your expercience.

If you go to some sort of "Gifted School" then there's a greater chance of a CP club already existing. Otherwise, people are generally not interested (implementation is already hard for beginners, imagine having to deal with algorithms) and you should just go on your own.
