I think it would be cool if a user would be able to make a paragraph about themselves and make it appear on their codeforces profile.
Was this feature suggested before? I see no issue implementing it within a few days and it would be cool for it to be added.
How would you describe yourself from Codeforces perspective?
Not necessarily from Codeforces perspective. perhaps write some motivational statements, link CV or portfolio, maybe link a YT / twitch channel, etc. In general, it would be cool, and implementing it is not hard at all.
People like rainboy use the name field for the description. So I think we need this.
Inevitably, I also use the name field not for its purpose, I link my discord server there.
Good idea
I would even love to see a Github profile to check what other competitive programmers are working on.
Some users just don't want to reveal their personal information on a coding site.
They don't have to, but it should be an option.
personal information? why do you have to put personal information in a description? it could be any statement and you could leave it empty..
Yeah you are right :)
Honestly, this will probably just end up like AoPS where user profils are just a big joke.
Why do you think it would end like that? Please elaborate or provide more information. Also, putting jokes in the description is also possible :p

codeforces: Ok guys now we are adding streams to sidebar
Stream tab was suggested to Mike too. And he asked around for thoughts about this idea (and e.g. indirectly got negative feedback from Swistakk). So it isn't true that CF randomly does things and ignores what the community suggests.
Where?
In priv.
It's obvious that not every decision must be discussed with the whole community. Asking a few people for opinion is still better than no research at all. No matter the rating, if you ask 10-20 CF users about some feature, you will already get feedback about possible downsides too.
So original post is confirmed to be true.
asked around for thoughts about this idea
It seems to me that all the people involved in this decision were >= red. You have tourist who brought up the idea, Swistakk being asked for feedback, and, so far, only red coders being allowed to stream.
Do high rated people really represent the community? Does asking them and only taking feedback from them directly eliminate the need to look at what the community suggests?
Don't worry, he must have asked Um_nik, that's enough to represent all the non-reds.
Only about 1000 cyans
Yeah but he had a lower rating when he wrote that so we gotta pump it up
Stream tab is worst feature ever. Streams were already bad. Now CF is promoting it?
I just said the same thing in AC lmao
Apparently, tourist is not "people". He's an alien!
there should be
there should be a wow msg for max rating same as 100+ delta
