Hi all, an important announcement about icpc (https://www.amrita.edu/icpc21)
It has been decided to conduct the Asia Amritapuri ICPC Preliminary and Regional Round in the month of June and July respectively because of the current pandemic situation. Registration will end 10 days before the Preliminary Online Round.
Teams can register at two sites as per the rules, if the contest is announced by other sites. Most probably Kanpur & Gwalior sites also will host the contest. that case, there will be one single round of online contest. This will be announced soon~.
Tentative date for the Preliminary Round Online contest: Last week of June 2021.
Duration: 2.5 hours
There is no registration fee to participate in the Preliminary Online Round.
Regional Round: July second week.
Duration: 5 hours
Teams will be promoted after the Preliminary Online Round.
Regional Round will be held online on CODEDRILLS platform.
Amrita will host the regional round in the online mode with the following selection criteria.
Total Slots: 700
Teams solving at least one problem in the Preliminary Online Round are eligible for the Regional Round. Top team from each institution is selected first. Rest of the slots are filled in the rank order.
If any queries related to this or ICPC registration, please ask at CodeDrills Discuss and we will try to get it answered by Amrita staff.
UPD 1: I have collected all information that I could find about the regionals here.
UPD 2: We will be conducting a mock contest for those registered for ICPC Amritapuri (details at https://codedrills.io/contests/icpc-amritapuri-2020-mock-round ). We strongly suggest you get familiar with the platform by participating in the mock contest and ensuring that your login works. Make sure you resolve any issues faced well before the main contest. We won't be able to resolve any login related issues that are reported later.
thanks a lot Balajiganapathi for changing the date. Whole country is suffering from pandemic. Me and my family is suffering too. I thank you for your decision.
Amrita college changed the dates (with some input from me) :)
Sad to hear about the situation, hope things improve soon.
Take care and stay safe everyone!
Balajiganapathi What will be the eligibility criteria in order to participate, keeping in view the students graduating from college in this summer?
According to rules at https://icpc.global/regionals/rules, it seems you will be eligible as it is ICPC 2020. Relevant quotes from the rules:
If you can post in discuss, we can get this confirmed by Amrita staff to be extra sure.
BTW, so this effectively means that all the 700 slots in Amritapuri are now college-reservation based, right? (if not, can someone pull the numbers as to how many unique colleges we had in past years?)
I would really appreciate it if there was atleast a single regional which had 350 ranklist-based + 350 college based — that seems fair to both. Otherwise, basically if you're from a competitive college it's probably harder to qualify from your college than to make wf (consider IIT Roorkee last year, 2 teams made wf) :(
I think the reason all regionals go for college first is because world finals slots allocation takes # of institutions into account https://icpc.global/regionals/wildcards. So regionals optimize for slots by using this selection scheme.
I mean when you consider its an online regional in the first place, what would be the harm of making the number of slots variable? Like taking first 400 or so by absolute rank, then taking the first from each remaining college?
But last year Amrita selected top 70-80 teams on the basis of rank and then the first teams from each college, right? Also I think the number of slots last year was half of this year's, so I don't think selecting even the top 150-200 teams on the basis of rank will significantly reduce the number of unique colleges.
Btw, a technical detail — the number of participants should be the number of people participating in the online round, and not the regional, right? The number of teams in the regional (i.e, 2nd stage) is a filtered out version. What should be considered is the total participation in that region, which is all the teams who registered for the first round. I'm not sure why this isn't the case here..
I had this exact concern, but two things to note is that
The number of distinct colleges participating last year was around 400
The number of distinct colleges registered for Amritapuri last year was around 300
So assuming trends hold that should be around 300-400 slots which will be taken by absolute rank.
But still, it does suck that there is no exact cutoff rank defined in advance, it really should have been something like:
Top X by absolute rank
First from each college after removing first X
Fill rest by absolute rank from the rest
which would have been more in line with the normal Amritapuri selection process :/
Probably a silly question, but how did you estimate the number of distinct colleges that participated last year?
I was originally planning to scrape the official ICPC site and count the number of distinct colleges, but I found two resources that allowed me to get the actual numbers in an easier manner.
The Amritapuri director's report contains the number of distinct colleges at Amritapuri last year.
This useful sheet which was posted on codechef discuss gave me the number of distinct colleges that participated last year.
You need to note that regionals have no entry fees this year, and 0 other associated costs... I do think that will increase the number of distinct colleges significantly.
Yup, that is a reasonable point, and the major reason why I consider the second system to be far fairer.
Furthermore, its an online regional where the number of spots aren't tightly constrained by any physical resource. They could always fix the number of teams qualified by absolute rank, and take the first team from each college beyond that.
I'll probably scrape the registered teams list in a bit and try to get an approximation of how many distinct colleges have registered till now.
Follow up to this, I scraped the 2417 currently registered teams, among them there were 301 distinct colleges. This is roughly in line with the 292 distinct teams among 2400 teams registered last time. However considering the much larger registration window this could still increase significantly.
Colleges for all 2417 teams registered so far.
Distinct colleges
You mentioned that
However as of the time of writing this comment, the Upcoming regional page on the ICPC site shows that over 80% of the online round slots have been filled. If the limit of 3000 is reached before this deadline will it be increased to allow more teams to register, or is it a hard cap?
Some teams will have to deregister themselves to participate in other regionals, I think that will make more empty slots in this.
That is true, but as long as the number of distinct colleges registered for Amritapuri doesn't get too close to 700, many teams from stronger colleges will favour Amritapuri. Basically its whether you think getting through on absolute rank or defeating nearly every other team in your college is the more feasible option.
Yes the limit will be increased.
Limit increased to $$$5000$$$
Say, Kanpur and Gwalior also decides to host the contest. Can I deregister myself from amritapuri and participate in form the other two?
Yes teams can cancel registration
On ICPC official website my team status is accepted for amritapuri regional round if my coach self cancels the team, will it deregister the team? and after that can we participate in the other two divisions? Balajiganapathi
Yes
thanks
why status is showing pending even though our coach has registered us and i have filled all required information with asterisk . Do i need to do something else ? Balajiganapathi or someone else please tell.
Wait for one day
manpreet.singh I have already filled all the fields with asterisk at http://icpc.global/private/profile. But still it's showing pending. Do we need to fill some other information at somewhere else? Balajiganapathi could you help here.
Can you post on CodeDrills discuss? Will share with Amrita staff for the answer.
Balajiganapathi can you create an option to give virtuals on codedrills so that those who have missed a practice contest can still give?
Balajiganapathi, can you please tell us how do we register our team for Amritapuri Regionals? Because on ICPC Website the last date for registration was 10 June 2021, which conflicts with the last date of registration given on this link which is 20 June 2021. Please help us. Our coach's screen while doing registration is like this.Image
seems like poor management from amrita lol
No, on the contrary they fixed it ASAP as soon as I contacted them on Codedrills Discuss Platform too. Coordination between them and ICPC must be nice to do this quickly. Thanks.
Can you check that several teams from our Institute are not able to register since in their ICPC baylor profile Institution Unit Assignment is not getting filled and thus we are not able to register. Can anyone explain what can be the solution . PLease help?Balajiganapathi
I am still facing this issue. Did you manage to fix it??
It got fixed today morning!
Balajiganapathi, can you please tell when the PENDING status will be converted to ACCEPTED? We have registered before the deadline (With no issues found in the eligibility), so if they change our status to ACCEPTED after 20th, will we be able to participate?
Yes, Amrita staff will accept the teams manually. It can be accepted after 20th too if eligible.
I'm trying to register my team for Amritapuri Prelims. But it says "request failed with status code 503". Can you please tell me what should I be doing ? Balajiganapathi . I tried to give other team names as well (assuming team name is the problem). But it still isn't working.
Please mail [email protected] and also cc [email protected] in case they can help. Would recommend doing that immediately as deadline is tomorrow.
Did, they resolved your query, I am also getting error 503.

Did you do anything or it just went away? It is still coming for me
I have some questions, will anyone please help.
Balajiganapathi Sir, please clarify?
Hi I am not really aware of the full rules. Try mailing [email protected] for exact confirmation. I can however answer from my own experience:
Do you know when I asked same questions to their mail id, what response I got?
They replied me just the official website link and told to check there. Then why the hell are they having a mail id to help people.
By the way your help is very much appreciated @Balajiganapathi
Just please confirm for the 4th point one more time, bcz I have a team mate who is going to graduate by end june. is he eligibile or not?
Yes, check this post for link and exact quote.
Please update codedrills server it takes 10 mins to judge a submittion. Either update the server or conduct contest on some other platforms please (╥﹏╥)
Can you tell when it took 10 mins? If during the last practice round then we have fixed the issue that caused the delay. We are always working on making the judge faster and it is much faster now.
Yeah, during the last ICPC practice session, it took around 10 mins for me to get my solution judged.
Ok, that issue has been fixed now.
This is my first time at ICPC, I want to know when will the contest link show up on Codedrills, and will it be some private link or any similar things.. It's a bit unclear since it is happening tomorrow and we haven't recieved any information about how to participate in the contest. Please clarify Balajiganapathi UPD: Thanks a lot for the update, I thought it was to be held tomorrow. I made a fool out of me, Sincere apologies for any unintended ruckus.
I think you are inquiring about a mock ICPC contest. Regional is scheduled in the month of July.
The preliminary online round is scheduled for 10th July. Tomorrow is the deadline for registration. More details and instructions for participation will be provided in the coming weeks.
By this you mean that the preliminary online round will be on the 10th of July right? (as was written in an email), not the regional itself right?
Yes, have edited the comment to make this clear.
Thanks! BTW, is there any rough estimate of when the regional shall be held? (Or if possible, exact date)
Sir, after selectin site, I am not able to enter team members details. Site is loading indefinitely.
Can anyone please help me as my team has got accepted status but the coach section is showing registration incomplete? I want to know whether this can lead to the cancellation of our candidature, or it's just a warning.
Yeah same is happening with me too. I don't think its a problem though.
ICPC website is so messed up, I am trying to register from past 6 hours, still I am not able to register bcz the fact that website is not loading the boxes to enter team members details.
I mailed them multiple times, still no reply from their side.
Balajiganapathi Please see if you can do something in this regard.
I think it's the problem from the coach side. It was occurring because our coach has not updated his icpc profile information. But after he updated that the problem was automatically solved. So you can ask your coach to update his icpc information.
No, the problem is with their website. Even after updating all details of coach's it's not working.
What the hell? I should not say that but being such a prestigious contest ICPC should check for their scalability and performance issues.
I know that at the last moment traffic is higher than usual but ICPC should have checked this.
Their also not responding to mail.
I hope they extend the deadline by a day or two. Balajiganapathi
ICPCNews
Why should they? The registration went for 4-5 months... and still you register on last day?
I think it's a common practice (and rightly so) to do important things early to avoid last moment issues.
That's totally a shit logic which my teacher used to give. It's similar to saying codeforces don't allow submission in last 2 mins.
So guys I was able to register successfully but it is showing my predicted eligibility as ineligible with a weird reason: team does not have contestants.
I did registered all 3 contestants.
just click on re-validate eligibility, you'll become eligible.
I checked it but now it is showing ineligibility reason --> "Already graduated".
even though i set expected graduation date as 2022/08/01.
Yeah... I too have the same problem..
I am having the same issue. Please check 7_7 Balajiganapathi
Update : My Team is eligible and there are no issues found, as of now(22/06/2021).
I am afraid, I can't help you. Unfortunately, the last date for registration has passed according to their website. I think you can try mailing them your concern and that you are trying to register for the last few days, maybe attach some screenshots for credibility. They should do something because these are errors on their part.
P.S. I am not a coordinator nor am I associated with ICPC organizers in any manner.
Me and my teammates are having the same problem.
ICPC website needs good developers instead of Competitive programmers.
True af.
yeah We are also having the same problem.
edit : It has been cleared
How?
Edit-: Fixed after clicking revalidate.
It earlier showed eligible for me. After clicking re-validate, it is now showing ineligible with caption "has already graduated" whereas I am expected to graduate in 2022. What am I supposed to do now? Balajiganapathi
Edit: The issue is fixed.
Balajiganapathi For Kanpur regionals we are getting the message "has already graduated" showing that our team is ineligible. One of our team members has his graduation set to July 2021. Clicking on "Revalidate" button isn't fixing the issue. What should we do? Can you you look into this, since the deadline for Kanpur regionals is quite near.
I have also mailed [email protected] about the same
Same I am also getting this error, if you get any response than do mention here as well.
Hey can you email to the address given here http://kanpur.indiaicpc.in/?page_id=145 as well ,if you haven't gotten any response.
Thanks, I'll mail there too.
Let me know if you get a response as well
I have set up 2022/08/01 as my expected date of graduation still it shows the error of ineligibility: "Already Registered".
Anyone please help, I also mailed them, but no reply from them.
Did your coach register as a contestant coach or regular coach?
How we should we check this ????
Your coach should be getting two options, ask him to check. We were having problems because our coach was trying to register as contestant coach.
How much time will it take for pending status to get verified? Balajiganapathi
Max 1-2 days. The issue of already graduated also solved now.
The Baylor site shows our predicted eligibility as ineligible for a weird reason which says that I compete for another university this year.
The college that I have written in my profile is same as that of my teammates and coach. I mailed this issue to icpc.global but didn't got any response. What should I do now?
There can be multiple entries of your Institute. Institute Names are case sensitive.
All the team members including coach must have same Institute Name.
My university had two entries just make sure you all pick same one.
When we are supposed to get ID and Password for the online round ? We still did't get password?
still a week remaining dude! Chill out
Just to confirm, is the preliminary round also going to be conducted on CODEDRILLS (asking because the original post only mentions CODEDRILLS as the host platform for regionals, not for prelims)?
Yes, it would be.
Thanks for clarifying.
The 700 slots are for prelims to Regional or Regional to next round? Balajiganapathi
Prelims to Regional.
How many systems will be allowed per team? All 3 can log in or only 1?
There isn't ICPC for schools this year right?
In team list there are some institutions that are written differently, such as teams from IIT Kanpur have written their institution in three ways:
I want to ask whether these will be considered as one institution for filling slots with top teams?
Here it says that the online round has been postponed T-T. Does anyone know if it's a mistake or was this change made recently on the site ?
I got an email as well, so I guess it's official. It's crazy that they're changing the date in the last week — people have other things that they have to plan around regionals :/
Yeah it's postponed. Sad part is it's an unexpected delay. Though everything is ready from the POV of a judge. But there is some issue with ICPC global site, we are not able to get the registered teams' data.
Indians waiting for icpc is equivalent to rcb waiting for IPL trophy :(
The challenge is not to clear preliminary round but to give the preliminary round.
Dear , Greetings from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham!
This email is to let you know that the Preliminary Round Online Contest is postponed. We will update the date soon. If you have any queries feel free to reach out to us by replying to this email. Thanks & Regards,
Team ICPC
thats what i received today from them :(
Please try to host is as soon as possible as a lot of 4years would otherwise have passed out or moved for further studies or have gotten too busy with with their jobs, it's almost gonna coincide with this year's ideal Online round time :(
Hojayega B**nch*d ! G*a*nd me ghus jao aadmi ke
I do get it if you're upset seeing everyone nagging admins to host the ICPC soon, but still please watch your language, atleast speak with some respect publically!
Guys, I am kind of confused! For those who will graduate in May 2022 and haven't registered for the current ICPC, there is still one ICPC left, right? I mean the one that is happening now is ICPC 2021 and there is still ICPC 2022. Correct me if I am wrong!
Koi Bata do yaar!
Hopefully yes, ideally that should be the case, but with the current situation, I don't think anyone can give a sure shot answer yet!
Dear
Greetings from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham!
We are forced to postpone the preliminary round due to the problems in the ICPC registration system. We're working on resolving the issues. The dates for the ICPC preliminary contest are yet to be finalized. The team is working towards providing you the best experience and mostly we will be able to organize contest within 10 days. Before that, we will also organize a practice session for you. Participants will soon receive an email with the contest dates.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Thanks & Regards, Team ICPC
Received today...
Surely we are getting the best experience. (T-T)
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham gaand mar liye ho bc tumlog hamara ! Is mahine karwa do toh man jaye
Dear Coder,
Really bad to see this type of comment. Without knowing the real issue, comments like this seems to be really bad. we had to delay the contest because the data in ICPC Registration system was migrated to cloud and most of the teams faced updating the data, missing of data, etc. This was resolved hardly two days back. Wonder how you think and comment like this.
Maheshwara Chaitanya (RCD, ICPC Asia Amritapuri Site)
Dear ,
Greetings from ICPC Asia Amritapuri Regional Site!
Hope you are doing well & staying healthy.
We all are going through tough times in our lives. Education & work have been disrupted equally. I was trying to host the ICPC Regional in the month of July but got delayed because of some technical reasons. Now, the decision has been made at ICPC Headquarters to host the world finals at Moscow during the first two weeks of October. Chances are that the teams qualifying in the 2020 Regional (the current contest, to be held in August 2021) may be qualified for the Moscow World Finals. The contest will be held on August 14th 06:00 PM. In that case, we can have only one round of the contest to qualify for the World Finals to be held at Moscow.
Teams interested in participating in other sites in India are free to cancel the registration at Amritapuri site by logging to ICPC Foundation Registration system.
Teams solving at least one problem will receive t-shirt (for each member).
Please write to [email protected] for any queries.
This is what we recieved. Ahh, one year of ICPC ruined for us.
Couldn't even organize 2 proper online contests. Would've been better if they organised it on Codeforces or Codechef, if their platform is that shitty ffs.
First of all, you should have all the facts to comment something bad about anyone.
Qualifier problems were ready from last one month. If there have been no issue in ICPC global site, qualifier round for Amritapuri Regional would have been finished on 10th July.
And guess what this would have been more problematic because now all other regionals don't want to have a qualifier given the short time.
Lastly what do you think, the organising platform have any control over ICPC committee decisions? If you think so, I'm happy but sadly we don't.
deleted
Who is the World finalist? We will give chances to all the deserving teams to compete in the world finals.
So what does this mean exactly? Is WF 2021 now merged with WF 2020? Is there just one round for qualification, or is he saying that there is just one round for Amritapuri, and more regionals will be announced?
There is no notice till now about other regionals, and it seems like, yes they are merging the WF. But the worst part is that, for Indians, there is either WF or nothing. The regionalist tag was something we were hoping for as someone who has still a begginer compared to the WFinalists. Now its gone. And the worst part is that, all they had to do was organize 2 proper online coding rounds, for which they came up with their own website in order to collect our contact info and then send promotional Emails of their programs every other day, all that, just to end up with not even getting a proper regional round T_T
So, either you are world finalist or you are nothing T_T
I guess whoever is participating in icpc online round on 14 Aug will be tagged as Icpc regionalist. >.<
What?
1) ICPC Rounds are generally prepared by ICPC regional setters not the platform setters. Though everyone's ideas are welcome to be considered for ICPC rounds.
2) Codedrills doesn't belong to Amrita sadly if thats what you meant.
3) We collect user info only when a user creates an account on our website. Read privacy policy here. If ICPC regional wants the info, they anyhow get it from ICPC global system. Why would they need a new website for it?
And we haven't added already received emails of few teams from ICPC system to our announcement list. And we won't add others as well which we receive for ICPC rounds. So your comment regarding data collection doesn't mean anything.
4) I personally wanted to have a qualifier, requested many times but the decision from Indian ICPC committee is NO so can't do anything here.
Vichitr Isn't it possible to give regionalist certificates to the top qualifiers, like those who would have otherwise qualified for Amrita regionals? Because most of us were competing for the regionalist tag : (
there is no merger of world finals. every regional toppers will be given chance to participate in the world finals as it was in previous years.
Thanks for replying. I'm sorry, but I'm still a little confused. The world finals of the previous year is supposed to be held in October. In the email you said:
Chances are that the teams qualifying in the 2020 Regional (the current contest, to be held in August 2021) may be qualified for the Moscow World Finals.
So, this "Moscow World Finals" is separate from the postponed world finals from 2020, but held around the same time? Or is it just that the regional toppers somehow get to participate in the postponed World Finals? It would be helpful if you could explain a bit more clearly.
Yes even I am having a hard time understanding the update sent through email, it would be great if you can elaborate Balajiganapathi for the issues by Lain
The details sent by mail seem to be too ambiguous, creating more confusions. Balajiganapathi please clarify..
Edit:: One more question is that can we participate in one or more online regional rounds apart from Amritapuri ?
Yes, you can participate in two sites. in that case, you will have to cancel the registration at Amrita site in ICPC Registration system. This confusion is because of the delay in decision making at other sites.
If WF's of 2020 and 2021 are merged, will a team(or member from a team) which qualified in 2020 be eligible for 2021 as well?
there is no merger.
why will we have to cancel our Amritapuri registration to participate in two Regionals? Does this means that we cannot participate in two regionals?
You can register for at most 2 regionals. In case you want to register for two regionals other than Amrita, then feel free to cancel registration of Amrita. This is what Chaithanya sir meant.
Thanks a lot, this was indeed a much-needed clarification.
Balajiganapathi, don't break our dreams of being a regionalist. Setting a precedence other Indian sites may also do the same. So please, do your best in organising 2 contests.
I think the decision was taken by Amrita management.
are haa bhai, I know that but he is a medium to convey our queries.
It is not decision by the Amrita Management. ICPC Decisions cannot be taken by Amrita alone. we can decide on the registration fees, goodies, etc. but not on the contest policies, etc.
Can anyone tell whether or not can we participate in both the Amritapuri and Kanpur-Mathura contests? http://kanpur.indiaicpc.in/
The same rule as previous years apply. You can participate in any two regionals if more are announced.
Is the process for Kanpur site same as Amritapuri site?
Balajiganapathi Vichitr anandoham I just want certainty on one thing, now that it's certain we are gonna have a single contest and world final spots would be allocated based on that itself, how many World Final spots would be allocated at Amritapuri?
Because there used to be multiple spots till 2018, but last year there was only one spot and others were moved to Asia West Finals last year, but then this year doesn't seem like Asia West is gonna happen either, so can someone please gimme an official number of World Final spots?
Also the mail states the contest would be on 14th of August at 6:00pm, I wanna confirm, it would be an ICPC style 5 hour contest right? (Because most 3 hour contests are just a race)
can someone tell me if I want to participate in another region then it becomes necessary to cancel registration for amritaupti sites or we can participate without canceling
Only if you want to register in two other regionals. The rule is: you can register for at most two Regionals. In case you want to participate in Amrita and one another regional then do not cancel.
Hey I'm registering for Kanpur-Mathura online site round they asked for Rs750 but when I went to the billing tab there was no billing information. How to make payment if any know?
Some Doubts:
Are there any updates about other regionals, apart then Kanpur and Amritapuri regionals?
Also, is the Kanpur Regional going to happen on CodeDrills?
About the contest date of Kanpur regional?
Is the contest going to be 3 hours or 5 hours?
What are the setup requirements? (I hope appropriate measures against cheating has been taken)
I have collected all links and details I could find and added here. I will update it as I get more information on contest duration, conduct etc.
Thanks a lot for the link (and also for instant reply)
Just received a mail that the Preliminary Round contest will be held on 7th Aug and Regionals on 14th Aug. This is becoming more and more confusing. Just 4 hours earlier Balajiganapathi updated on a comment that there will be no extra round and now this.
The rules are even confusing than Christophers Nolan's movies lol
I don't see anything explicitly stating there will be no extra round in either his message or the linked blog? Did he edit it?
Only thing it clearly states is no onsite regional and Asia West status unknown.
I am just updating as new information comes in. I never mentioned anywhere that there will be no extra round in that link. Have updated it now with the latest information.
If a Preliminary Round is happening, I don't see a reason why it can't be common for all.
Also, please give us some time after all the updates to finalize which regional to register and deregister. Hope not to see any updates about the change of plans in August :)
The number of teams that will qualify for amritapuri regionals is still 700 or has it changed now since Kanpur and Gwalior have announced their regionals too?
It is mentioned in the Codedrills blog that the world finals will be in 2022 so since now there is time, is there a possibility that the other sites may also conduct a preliminary round ? Or am I just going crazy :)
Dear ICPC Contestant,
Greetings from the ICPC Asia Amritapuri Site!
Here is an important update for you! ICPC Asia Amritapuri Site has decided two rounds of contests as announced earlier. This is as per the suggestions from the judging committee to host a quality contest.
• Practice session will be on July 31, 2021. 06.00 to 08.30 PM, 2.5 hours. • Preliminary Round contest will be held on August 7, 2021. 06:00 to 08:30 PM, 2.5 hours. • Regional Round will be on August 14, 2021. 06:00 to 11:00 PM, 5 hours. • Last date for the cancellation of teams to participate in the other sites: August 5, 05:00 PM.
Amrita will NOT be charging any registration fees for the preliminary round. Teams who are selected for the onsite round will be charged INR 700.
Regionals will be held online or offline?
The first point in this blog mentions that regionals will be held online.
Teams who are selected for the onsite round will be charged INR 700.
What does this mean?
Onsite here just refers to the regional round. It will be online.
To be honest ICPC India is becoming shit. I think, all the online rounds and regionals should be held on codeforces. I won't be surprised if there is a server error on Codedrills during the actual contest.
I agree with the last point. Because they have never quite actually handled the amount of traffic equivalent to what will be expected for the Online Round. are you sure Balajiganapathi Vichitr ?
We did perform extensive load testing on double the amount of expected load and have optimized our servers to handle the load. Do participate in the upcoming mock contest and let us know if there are any issues.
Quick sanity check, now that we're back to a preliminary round + regional round, the previously mentioned slot count (700) and team selection method (first from each college + rest by absolute rank) still applies right?
Also can we expect to have a final list of distinct colleges at some stage? I know there are rough lists people have generated by parsing the site, but some official numbers could give us better clarity on how many absolute rank slots we can expect would be nice.
Yes the selection rule which was decided earlier would apply now for Regional team selection.
You can send an email to Regional for the list of distinct colleges and absolute rank slots.
If you do that, ExplodingFreeze then please do share that here too, so we can also know how much the competition is(just for curiosity and not that I fear competition)... Thanks in advance from all of us.
Can you also tell whether Gwalior-Pune and Kanpur-Mathura are holding 2 rounds (Prelims + Regionals) or are they directly going to send teams for the world finals? Also, how many world finals slots are there from each site?
Hi all, we will be conducting a mock contest for those registered for ICPC Amritapuri (details at https://codedrills.io/contests/icpc-amritapuri-2020-mock-round). We strongly suggest you get familiar with the platform by participating in the mock contest and ensuring that your login works. Make sure you resolve any issues faced well before the main contest. We won't be able to resolve any login related issues that are reported later.
Is anyone able to register on ICPC Global Website for Kanpur-Mathura Regionals 2020 or Gwalior-Pune Regionals 2020?
I am getting the following:
Edit: Sorry for the misunderstanding, didn't see the year.
https://icpc.global/regionals/finder/Asia-Kanpur-Mathura-2020 This link says that the contest dates are 13 August. Please clarify the dates.
Maybe you should drop an email to Kanpur site instead of asking it here. Find contact here. And also you should consider what their site says as they would update on their site first then ask ICPC global to update.
As problemsetters, what goes into the decision of choosing the allowed error? To me, $$$10^{-9}$$$ is very harsh.
How did you solve Beating Shell Sort? Can you share your approach?
The answer is a multiple of 0.5, so it doesn't matter I think
It seems we had completely different solution from you guys. What did you do?
Rotate the axes by 45 degrees, the question now reduces to finding the minimum side length such that 2 squares of that length cover all the n points.
Ah then we have the same solution. What makes it so that it must always be a multiple of 0.5 though?
For at least one of the squares, at least one of its set of opposite sides should each contain a point. It can be proved by contradiction as we could shrink our squares if this property doesn't hold.
Can you please give some hint or idea for solving "Beating Shell Sort".I couldn't find its editorial.
My team-mates solved problem F, so can't help you out here :)
Just take the sorted array from 1 to 100000, and for each index i, replace that position by a 0. Now move that 0 using each gap in the gap sequence by doing i%=g[j] successively, and if it is not able to reach index 0 at the end then count it in the answer.
Why does the form for the Kanpur-Mathura Site ask about "ICPC World Finals 2020 (at Moscow, Russia) in the month of October 2020". By the look of it, several fields are directly copy pasted from the form sent to last years Asia West finals participants.
Can someone confirm that preliminary for Amritapuri is happening on Aug 7?
Why does Gwalior-Pune's website still mention this:
The teams that qualify through this year's regionals will participate in the world final in 2022. Teams for the October 2021 world final to be held at Moscow have already qualified. It looks like they are hurriedly hosting only one round instead of two based off of a misunderstanding.
I think a further delay in hosting the regionals is not possible, as many graduating students might be starting/ have already started grad-school or jobs and it may be inconvenient for them.
Amritapuri is hosting two rounds with its regional happening before both Kanpur and Gwalior-Pune. And anyway, the part about world finals happening in October 2021 is wrong, which is what I think caused them to keep one round in a hurry. Also I think many (most?) graduates have already started jobs or grad school.
The status of our team on the Baylor site for the Kanpur Site is still pending. Is there someone else who is facing the same issue?
Same here. Been a few days since filling form. Still pending.
