Do you play computer games? If yes, what is your favorite or, maybe, what category of games do you like? As for me, I like Civilization (I played parts V and VI). Also I like RPGs and strategies in common. To my mind, it is a really good way to rest. What do you think?
DOKA 2
WTF NOONE CARES HAHA
LOOOOOOOOOOOOL RLY HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
I like Civilization too, played VI but not anymore as it wastes too much time :(
Genshin Impact. It's a really cool game, I think you can give it a try.
It's a matter of taste, of course, but I really don't understand all the fuss about Genshin. Stupid fetch quests, horrible dialogue system where you have to listen through the same lines dozen times, combat against stronger foes is just "do the same attack but for 5 minutes", and that's not even starting on gacha mechanics. Like, the only reason why the internet is going crazy is anime girls in negligee, isn't it? Idk, I played for 4-5 hours and never had an itch to run it for the second time. Does it get better after 100 hours and $1000 spent on gacha?
You got the point, Anime vibe.
But I have nothing against anime vibe, I like the style and I enjoy fanart. That doesn't mean it's a good game.
Well, I didn't enjoy most of the story of Mondstadt (first part) and yes, the game was kind of boring till AR 25. But once you passed that, not only the story gets interesting but also you can focus on certain things like character building, elemental reactions, fighting different bosses, and clearing domains. And I don't like anime that much, so anime characters were never been an attraction for me. As a f2p, the game has treated quite well. But in the end, it all comes down to the taste, but I could recommend playing like till AR25.
Alright, that's a reasonable answer. I can believe that it becomes better in the late(r) game and it's cool that you have fun with it.
Anime Waifus Thats it.
Though I kind of like the storyline too. The gameplay is probably improving with time too.
something about it hits my brain cells just right to give me that sweet sweet serotonin. its kind of like anime runescape IMO, except with a good story arc.
RuneScape has some of the best storylines in modern fiction you clown
Hop on Honkai Star Rail!
CS GO, one love
I can't decide on an absolute favourite, but I've been recently playing Celeste... it's an amazing game, I highly recommend it, even though it's a little hard and requires a bit of patience :)
Celeste really is an incredible game. More than anything, Celeste shows you that things you found absolutely impossible at first (Chapter 6 B-side, I'm looking at you) can be broken through with time and effort, and it always feels nice to be reminded of that.
Especially revisiting chapter 1 after finishing Chapter 7 was some kind of big "For real? The beginning was that simple? Felt harder!"
Like you, I also like RPGs and strategies. I am currently playing persona 4. You can try the witcher, final fantasy, or dragon quest series, these are really coooool.
I like all multiplayer games, COD and CSGO are my favorite ones.
CSGO is my favorite.
Funnily I got back to CP approx. 2 months ago because I felt i was playing too many computer games :D
I played Factorio (and Satisfactory, and Dyson Sphere Program) really much. Also I really like Myst-like games. Like Myst of course, but I also had the same feeling of exploration and environmental storytelling in Outer Wilds (Such a really wonderful masterpiece of a game!), Return of the Obra Dinn and Obduction. Also I can get really addicted to puzzle games, e.g. Baba is You, Stephens Sausage Roll, Snakebirds, Talos Principle, Recursed or Zachlikes like Spacechem and Infinifactory or also Kerbal Space Program and Roguelike-puzzles like Into the Breach or Fidel Dungeon-Rescue. For Socialising I play online Tabletopgames, my favourite being Through the Ages, got like 250 games already in it and no end in sight — I really love the tabletopgames from this author. Much time spent with precision-games, e.g. Celeste and Getting Over It and Super Hexagon. Colony Simulators like Dwarf Fortress, Oxygen not Included, Rimworld. And don't get me started on Roguelikes and RPGs and Point&Clicks...
Well.. this makes me realise once again how much time I put into games...
Though I also like a lot of the games on this list, I'd like to specifically echo the praise on Outer Wilds. If the concept of exploring the mysteries of space sounds at all appealing to you it's such an amazing experience. Literally the only complaint is that I can't erase my memory and play it again :P
Outer Wilds is amazing !! There will be also be a new DLC chapter coming soon !!
Does Playing computer games help in improving CP, as I have seen a lot of high rated coders play these games. Or do they just play to relax and chill and there is no correlation between playing games and CP.
Well, I certainly don't doubt that they can help (considering also, that RPG Maker 2k was my first introduction into simple programming. Like, instead of creating RPGs I created games from nearly every other genre with it. And some weird unknown game engine with a pascal-like dialect was my introduction to 'real' programming) but I personally doubt it's the main cause. I find it also really hard to distinguish correlation and causation in this aspect.
And with some of those games I totally cannot relax and chill and still I see me playing them! :D It's more like playing for the challenge.
getting over it is a great one
No I do not! But I used to...
Anyhow, tetris is surprisingly fun...
Cities:Skylines. Best of the best. Must have
God, I love that game but my computer is garbage (just not intended for games) so I don't get the satisfaction I am supposed to xD
Though I still wonder if it's 100% about my computer or the system requirements are actually a bit high... How exactly is your PC configuration?
I play only RTS games such as: chess, warcraft III, starcraft II, Stronghold Crusader HD. I love to try hard and rely only on my skill
What RTS game could you recommend? I wanted to get acquainted with this category (the only game from this list that I played is chess — really love them), but don't know what to start with.
Definitely starcraft II, but be prepared to the high entry level, you will most likely be smashed almost by everyone
CS:GO, FIFA
I used to be a hardcore player in Dota and Fifa. Most of the times, I was playing insanely competitively (and it was draining for sure) but I did enjoy them a lot.
I think that gaming and competitive programming have quite a few things in common, which is why I find it extremely annoying when gaming is looked down by others. I still remember this one time where a guy in my Topcoder room, after seeing people talk about gaming, claimed that it was only for losers. I sarcastically told him those losers were competing for millions of dollars while we were sitting here competing for literally nothing.
I play rhythmm games (osu!, ADOFAI, Muse Dash), guideline tetris, and CS:GO
League of Legends
I almost exclusively play Celeste, I've put over 1000 hours into it despite it being a single player 2D platformer because I've lost control of my life.
I heard so much about Celeste, probably should try it out.
you should :)
You definitely should!
Are you practicing on speedrunning the game?
Yup, I've spent a lot of time speedrunning the game, another lot of time playing community-made content, yet another lot of time doing deathless stuff and one more lot of time just playing the game normally because it's fun :D
Well, that's really cool!
OMG you must be a god gamer. Did you get the golden berry of Farewell?
Sadly it's the only one I don't have, though hopefully that will change soon :) I've made it up to the section with the colored blocks a few times already
UPD: As of 10 minutes ago the answer to this question is now yes
Congrats! That's a true god-level achievement. I've been practised for a while and the furthest point I had ever reached is somewhere of Event Horizon lol.
I am a noob CS: GO, player.
mt19937 Noita
Yes! Recently I beat System Shock 2, and am currently playing Bioshock. Next up on my list is Dark Souls. I also have several games that I have left incomplete and wish to complete like Silent Hill 2 (System Shock 2 was one of them until recently). I don't play RTS games since I feel I am exceptionally terrible at them. I mostly play older games. I also play osu! and CS:GO.
Minesweeper
AMONG US
I play osu! and AoE2 DE at relatively high level. Sometimes the games get too competitive that it feels more like a job xD. I also play Civ5 casually and it's a good game.
Omg I used to play AoE2 although I never got very competitive with it :P absolute banger of a game though.
I play aoe2de too!
Touhou Project
I don't
Dark souls is Love
Assassin's Creed
Plant vs Zombies :) Is that alright?
Project igi 2
played nearly 3 days continously to finish "Border Crossing" mission -_-
I did in 2 days
After watching a YouTube video
eagerly waiting for IGI Origins
Chrome's dinosaur game
I find it hard to enjoy the games that require any non-zero amount of brain or attention span :( Love puzzles, yet don't have enough brainpower to play them (like the most progress I had in Baba is You is when I shared my screen in vc and Neon, who has never played the game, was giving me tips, otherwise I'm hardstuck on every second room). Mesmerized by metroidvanias but they are surely out of question because you have to keep track of what you did. I like VNs but only if there is a really low amount of choice to make (so my perfect VN is an illustrated book). Too many mechanics — no thanks. Too story-rich — no thanks. I wish I could change that :(
Thus, osu! is my favourite game. No thinking required, no attention required. Just a fun way to shut my brain off and waste some time.
awoo: finds it hard to enjoy games that require thinking
Also awoo: goes hi tech before everyone else and builds the most complicated constructions on our private Minecraft server
(though it was something like three years ago, so maybe now he doesnt't like to use his brain in games)
Playing games with friends really shifts the emphasis from "playing games" to "spending time with friends" for me. I am fine with playing a way wider variety of games with friends than I am alone. The last time I had the attention span to enjoy minecraft solo was probably over 5 years ago.
osu requires no brain cells... until you suddenly start to practice EZ mod
Nah, I'm sure these are the different kinds of brain power we are talking about. I felt like I was losing brain cells playing hidden before because I never wanted to practice it. But then I spent the entire last month playing hidden exclusively and had a pretty fun time. I guess EZ experience should be the same I ever decide to go practice it...
Typical nerd starter pack 101:
10000 combined hours on all the soulsbornekiro games. My brain was designed with the sole purpose of enjoying metroidvanias
Beat Saber when i have the money to buy the setup lol
Europa Universalis IV
The last game I played on pc was GTA Vice city but sadly couldn't clear the helicopter level.
Well, I like to play Rocket League, it requires absolutely no brain.
Genshin gang :)
I am the only fool to play VALORANT :(
Lichess
typeracer and clash of code
Grand Theft Auto 5, PUBG. I liked Open World Games.
Brawlhalla and Cuphead! Loved them both.
I love Brawlhalla. Wish more people played it so we could get Indian servers :(
All-Time Greats: Diablo, Portal (2), Persona 5, The Witcher 3, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Celeste
Awesome Indies that lack a bit to get in the first list: Braid, The Witness, Undertale, Journey, Baba is You
(Fairly) Recent games I enjoyed: Final Fantasy VII Remake, Hades, Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Ori and the Blind Forest is great too)
Recently I got into roguelite-deckbuilders: Slay the Spire, Dicey Dungeons, Monster Train
Persona 5 is an absolute gem. The writing is top notch and the gameplay mechanics are fantastic. Maybe the best j-rpg i've ever played (and i'm saying this as a huge final fantasy enjoyer).
Persona 5 was the first jRPG I played and I thought I like jRPGs. Well, turns out I just loved Persona 5 :) I have enjoyed several jRPGs after that (Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Dragon Quest XI, Fire Emblem Three Houses, FF7 Remake), but none came close to Persona.
AMONGUS! AMONGUS! AMONGUS!
AmongUs AmongUs AmongUs
FNF
I still play GTA...
No. I play with my life
Geometry Dash (spent waaaaay too much time in this game), Dark Souls trilogy (2 was kinda meh), The Witcher 3, Divinity: Original Sin 2 (it's really cool but it takes SO much time to do stuff cuz there's so much to do, you can really get lost in it very easily), and lots of indies like: Little Inferno, Rampage Knights, Undertale & Deltarune, Sally Face, Human Resource Machine (got kinda tedious towards the end, otherwise the puzzles were pretty fun), Dead Cells (got kinda boring after not so much time), Ori and The Blind Forest & Ori and The Will of the Wisps (liked the sequel more cuz it had more stuff in it, but both were really really cool), Cuphead, OneShot (it was pretty interesting and had fun exploring the world, though I didn't like the end of Solstice that much..), Omori (*REALLY* interesting and weird game, still don't exactly know what it's about, probably my favourite game at the moment nonetheless), Darkest Dungeon (really cool but pretty grindy, ragequitted after losing a lot of heroes pretty stupidly,,), Don't Starve, Terraria, Super Meat Boy (duh.... though I actually never finished it ;d) and Celeste ((finally) finished the game + all B-sides + fiiiinaaalllyy all C-sides (the summit and the lava/ice lvls were pretty annoying, but i thankfully managed to do those too,,,,), didn't find it too amazing or ""revolutionary"" as a lot of people seem to have, lol, but overall it's a pretty fun platformer ;p) + maaaany more ;ppp
osu!mania and arcaea
Whenever I'm not doing something or even while listening to youtube videos I always end up in rocket league free play without realizing lol
And losing to TeaTime in duels :)
CSGO,ASSASSINS CREED,COD,BF..basically everything except valorant and fortnite.
I used to enjoy MMORPGs like Travian/Torn and RPGs on stuff like GBA/NDS/3DS/Switch. During the pandemic, I started playing other types of games! I have 0 talent for FPS, though I join my friends in L4D2, and more recently, Valorant sometimes. When I play alone I end up playing Rocket League a lot; though recently I'm looking into some visual novel stuff which I'm liking as well. With friends, we play Fall Guys, Phasmophobia, Valheim. I also have Project Winter and Don't starve together which I always want to play, but it's so hard to gather enough people to be able to enjoy these games :(
Minecraft.
I got inspired by Technoblade and Dream's duel(but not Mr.Beast's dollars though)
I mostly play single-player strategy games. My favourites are Battle Brothers, XCOM long war, Darkest Dungeon, Slay the Spire and Urtuk the Desolation.
My absolute favourite game to play with friends is Overcooked!
We had fun in Overcooked but didn't enjoy Overcooked 2 at all. The first one feels like a puzzle with a bit of chaos, while the second one is just chaos without any logic. Did you try the second part?
Actually I think I've only played the second game. Probably a difference in perspective, I enjoy the chaos :)
Do you have any Darkest Dungeon like game recommendations?
I don't know any other (good) games that are quite like it.
Worth noting that Darkest Dungeon 2 is coming out this year!
Oh My Git!
Everlasting summer, CS:GO, Portal 2
StarCraft Brood War
East or West CSGO is the best <3.
Silver? xD
wanna try me ?
Sure! I'm DMG. What rank?
My tastes are very singular. You wouldn't understand. Liftoff...
I like Dota 2 and strategy-type games like age of empire.
I also like to play some miniclip type games like helicopter/google chrome's t-rex.
Or some good old game like House of the dead / Road Rash.
cattle bats
The last PC game in which I immersed myself in for a long time is Path of Exile. It seems it hasn't been mentioned here yet. It's hack and slash ARPG, like great old Diablo 2, but modern, dynamic, with huge flexibility of character building and items
gamblingcrafting.Oh dear, another game I put way to many hours in. Playing the same 3 acts (yes, long ago) over and over and over and having no idea what the story is about because you focus on the hack and slash and the loot and the level.
And only like after 3 leagues I realized that trading with other (real) people really improves the quality of your build by a magnitude.
AMONGUS
My favorite types of games are open-world games especially "Assassin's creed" collection. I have fallen in love with that game and I have started playing it since I was 8 years old and till now I am still playing it.
Requiescat in pace.
I used to play Minecraft for years :p
CSGO!!
PS: my longjump record on vanilla is 237.56
My sync is really bad, does anybody have tips to improve?
roadRash and pinBall
Does anyone wanna play valorant?
World of Tanks. Played nearly 10 years since university.
Teamfight Tactics <(")
Starcraft (both Ⅰ and Ⅱ)
Any Hearthstone player?
Hearthstone in 2021 LOL
I played it quite a bit with some friends back in 2017-18. Although i enjoyed it a lot, i didn't really like all the rng mechanics and also how Blizzard started handling the game from a certain point.
same (i'd begun playing since beta, really enjoyed it, then quit a few years later cuz i kinda got bored, then played it on & off throughout the years, though it was obviously not what it used to be...)
Arcaea,a rhythm game.
It's relaxing unless you play some maximum level track......
Dota2, with MMR == my CF rating... lol
Personally, I really like Minecraft. Minecraft itself has so much to offer, and even if that becomes boring there are tons of mods to make it an even better game.
Actually, Minecraft players, what is your favorite activity?
Yes, I play chrome Dinosour game
Chess
Kinda sad that this legend has almost no mentions
My life.
Does anybody still play Skyrim?
It is a legend.
YES
[deleted]
[deleted]
I hope god will show you the right way once more!
really enjoyed red dead redemtion 2
Monster Hunter
Conflict of nations
League of Legends
Any Overwatch players here?
I have played a lot of games MMOs such as CSGO, Battlefield, Company of Heroes, Star Wars Battlefront2 etc.. multiplayers such as Dying Light, Monster Hunter World, Unfortunate spaceman, Deceit, Hell let loose, Division2, Killing floor2 and so on... Then Single players so many, where to begin ... Like series like Medal of honor, Brothers in arms, sniper elite, Call of duty, Middle earth, Assassins creed, Resident evil, GTA, fallout etc... Then games like Witcher 1, Dragon age origins, mass effect 1, Kingdom come deliverance, Outlast, Doom, Watch dogs (very less MP content), Metro 2033, Tomb raider 2k13, Red orchestra, Max payne, Mafia 2, Saints row 2, JC2, Sniper ghost warrior, Crysis, godfather, to name a few but the list goes on. Then many nintendo games when I was kid which i dont remember. On an average every 20 days to a month (currently), few years back it was about 15 — 20 days. I play a new single player game.
My personal single player favourite are Mass effect, Dragon age, Assassins creed (ezio), brothers in arms, sniper elite, Doom, resident evil 4, etc...
bro DYING LIGHT!! It's my personal favorite. How would you rate it out of 10 in terms of story, gameplay and weapons?
dying light
I'm still waiting for Dying Light 2. Did you watch the trailer? But I would still miss Kyle Crane in DL2. I think they should've kept Kyle alive after DLTF2
Well Actually I played it with my friend only for about 10 hours. I din pay much attention to the story as we just skipped hence i am not qualified for rating. But it was good. May be I would rate it 7.5 / 10. Video games are the best. I don't have console. So only played pc games. Try other games which i mentioned on the list and you have not played. Although I have not played, Skyrim, RDR2 are really awesome. Other games like bioshock, gears of war, Halo, quantum break, hellblade, remnant, ghost recon, splinter cell, specops, LaNoire, Bulletstrom, Greedfall, Kingdom of amalur re-reckoning etc.. I have a list of games yet to play and playing them one by one.
The classic tomb raider games . I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of people who love it as well . maybe it is before my time , but it remains my favorite game / series .
I play CSGO, and it helps me in competitive programming.
My aim got better, and now I can start codeforces rounds by pressing "start" button (when it appears) 50ms faster.
bro your crosshair sucks
I use an aimbot
Victoria 2, Crusader Kings 3, HOI4, Battlefield 5, Ghostrunner. I can't stand games which are niether intense action or RTS, because I hate when game tells you story in expense of gameplay. It annoys me till the point of dropping wery easily. I would better watch a movie, or read a book, if I want to hear the story. Maybe it's mental, but it's wery important for me to differentiate and understand on what exactly I'm using my time now. I guess I'll try Dark Souls now, after Ghostrunner.
Deep Space Waifu, its cheap on steam, you should all try it out. (Tell me if you can knock the glasses off)
Deepspacewaifive Approves!
Agree! (btw i'm best girl)
I agree!!! (Also I am the true best girl :sunglass:)
Deep Space Waifu best game!
+1! (i am real best girl if u were wondering :D)
my glasses are immune to your endeavors :sunglasses: :weary: #deepspacewaifu #bestgirl #mrprakash #glasses
Dead Cells.
my friends have been deeply obsessed with Anime Music Quiz for the past couple months. you get 20 seconds of some anime opening, ending, or insert, and you have to guess the show that it comes from. it pulls songs from the shows that someone in the room has watched (using MAL or AniList).
somehow, persona 5 was the gateway drug for me to become a massive weeb during this pandemic.
As a football fan, I play FIFA most of the time. Sometimes I try fps games like Valorant.
I've been playing agar.io almost every day since it came out
io games
Just started DaysGone. Running butter smooth on my potato pc(1650s).
osu, but I surprised that almost no one plays it(only some reds:))
io games
You should try World of Tanks. Its complicated, but everything is in your hands
gats.io, roblox
I play a lot of games, but my favourites are indie games like Undertale, Deltarune, Enter the Gungeon, Omori, etc... These games have a lot of life and interesting lore in them
Brawlhala and VALORANT and Roblox.
League of Legends (As a teemo main)
curvecrash.com -- very simple survival game. I recommend
VALORANT, Roblox, and Chess
i play valorant...nice competitive mode...peak rank gold :)
