Original Post

AtCoder World Tour Finals 2022 will take place on Sep 8th and 9th. We have two contests, one for each day, and we will combine the results of the two contests to declare a champion.

Contest Day 1: https://atcoder.jp/contests/wtf22-day1

Contest Day 2: https://atcoder.jp/contests/wtf22-day2

To reward those who advanced to the Finals multiple times, we will introduce a special tie-breaker this time: a contestant will get X points before the start of the contest where X is the number of times they advanced to the Finals.

We will also offer mirror contests for them. They have the same problems as Finals and happen at the same time.

Mirror Contest Day 1: https://atcoder.jp/contests/wtf22-day1-open

Mirror Contest Day 2: https://atcoder.jp/contests/wtf22-day2-open

They are AGC-rated (people with 1200 or higher ratings will be rated) rated for people with 2000 or higher rating, but they don't count for GP30 points.

I just wanted to be sure: by combining the results, you mean taking sum of some GP (or something like that) points plus number of finals, not adding the raw points plus number of finals, right?

That's a nice point, and I have to make it clear. I'm thinking about adding the raw points and the number of finals. I intend it to be only a tie-breaker.

On one hand, I have a sense that this reward is too small for advancing to Finals multiple times. On the other hand, if someone wins the Finals itself but miss the championship for the results of previous contests, it doesn't sound good to me.

I know this is not perfect for all people, but I would appreciate your understanding.

So this will be like score > number of finals > time penalty? And if contestants A and B solve everything in both days and A was in both days faster by and hour, but B has more finals, B still wins?

Yes that's right. (To be more precise, the time penalty is also summed.)

Why their names are World Tour Finals 2022? They should be World Tour Finals 2023.

But here says AtCoder World Tour Finals 2023 will take place on Sep 8th and 9th. So I think they should be 2023.

Oops, WTF 2022 is the correct name. TBH I was also confused about this point. We should call them WTF 2019-2022 since all finalists of the 4 seasons gather. I'll edit the post.

Oops again, WTF 2023 is the correct name, ignore the above message.

It's WTF22, not 23 (for the same reason as dXqwq mentioned). Sorry for panicking.

So why their are more than 8 participants? Is that whichever year you win you will be the finalist?(Sorry for my bad english)

It'd be awesome if AtCoder World Tour Finals becomes an in-person event, now that Google CodeJam, Meta Hacker Cup (in all likelihood) and even TopCoder Open have been discontinued and long before that they ceased to be in-person finals.

Wow, this is so cool! Imagine if Codeforces starts something similar, and calls it CodeForces Cup or something. Anyways wishful thinking considering CF is based out of Russia and hosting outside your home country is pretty difficult.

Meta Hacker Cup (in all likelihood)

It's like you have the ability to predict the opposite of what will happen :) Just 2 days after your comment, they announced it's happening

Haha. I made a similar comment 5 weeks ago here. I'm pleasantly surprised that MHC hasn't been cancelled. And it's likely that people in charge at Meta needed convincing to not discontinue it like the other competitions.

Time to fail to solve anything on open contests.

I think it's totally unfair to add the number of attending the finals to the points. As we know, it's very hard for top players to solve even 1 or more problems than each other. So their rank depends usually on penalty. Rank should react player's real true level, but I don't think it will now. For example tourist can arbitrary submit solutions because he gets the most init points and he don't need to worry about the penalty. And also, it's unfair to new players like jiangly, who is still in college and don't have time to attend final than others already graduated.. So I suggest delete this rule. And do something else to reward these finalist. And for the finalist, I think they just want to have fun equally in contest.
