'Good Bye 2023' is a controversial contest. Many want it to be unrated, while others want to keep it rated. Regardless of whether to cancel its rating, could you please explain your reasons? This may make everyone more convinced of your decision. Thank you! :)

I would want 74TrAkToR to stop coordinating div1s more than anything.

How come it has become normal that people knows before the contest even start that it'll be "unprepared" right after seeing the coordinator name?

I think the contest can be unrated only if the problems are stolen from somewhere or np hard or in the case of server down.

Last H1 & H2 were worse than stolen. It was in so many textbook excercises that sane coordinator would not dare to put it in any contest in the first place. Each issues in G and H individually were serious enough to unrate any round IMO.

Has this been ghosted? I think most of the community feels this way.

MikeMirzayanov? (and 74TrAkToR if he still has any control over the process?)

Also, please respond to the following questions: Will 74TrAkToR stop coordinating contests, or will he continue? Will he make some changes? Please don’t bury your head in the sand, thanks :)

Not all questions have answers. We had a lot of problems with this round. Including the injury that I received before the round, and which will probably bother me for many years.

I am ready to answer the question about changes. To begin with, I would like to prepare my div2 round so that you can be convinced of the quality of the tasks. In the future, we will take an even more detailed approach to preparing rounds.

thanks for a response, i think it is pretty clear that the goodbye round happened because it had to happen. In such cases, i would ask the round to prepared much in advance, so that this doesn't happen, and if there are some issues discovered close to the round, its better to cancel and postpone it. Not having a round is better than a rushed one.

Why does it receive so many downvotes? I'd be interested to know how you would feel if someone downvoted you simply for expressing your injury.

i'm tempted to think it's just an excuse as most injuries don't affect someone's activity to use hands and brain to coordinate

At this point, it seems it'll be rated. Surprisingly.

There's been no official statement regarding the round, for 5 days now. Even if Mike does not think it is a serious issue, the community obviously does. Maybe Mike is having a hard time lately and is too busy to deal with us.

At the very least we must have a clarification on what type of rounds should become unrated going forward, because there seems to be a huge misunderstanding. I think that a round which has a problem with a semi-googlable solution, another problem whose model solution is incorrect and another problem (F) which appears to be almost stolen from another source (according to what some people posted), then it should become unrated.

For me, this silence means that such rounds are still valid as being rated, which worries me very deeply about the quality of codeforces rounds going forward and how the rating is less trustworthy. It is still my opinion, maybe you think that such rounds are completely valid and of proper quality, you make the rules after all...

Just make the rules clear please. Maybe going forward I'll begin every round by copy-pasting the complete problemset into chatGPT and asking it whether any of the problems looks familiar, and provide me some sources, maybe even scripting it ahead of time. Then I'll read the sources and implement what I read. Sounds like a shitty experience. I value my enjoyment of competitive programming, yet I value my rating as well, seems to be an issue.

It will probably stay rated, because it has already passed some time, and people who solved the problems and got promoted would feel terrible.

The good news is that Hello 2024 is coming soon
