It really depends. For me, chillin' music (instrumental) can help me to be focus on somthing better. However, not everyone can have the same feeling as me. I do not try to concentrate on the playing music; it just creates an environment that there's no noise or other sounds.

Yes, I listen to music during a contest. It helps me lock in on the contest. I find that random artists screaming random words in my ear really helps me formalize my thought process. This is not sarcasm. ;)

Most of the times some anime background music or intro... Somehow it just helps me in staying focussed.

Yes, but only relaxing / low tempo stuff. I like Luna Li, Liana Flores and Ichiko Aoba for example.

If I put on some rock music I'm not concentrating well enough :)
