Dear Codeforces, I've done round #467 recently, quite a hard round though, a little bit decrease in rating. Then I realise that, my friend who is also took part in this contest, he found that the problems were too tough for him, then he decided to copy code from the other in order to Skip his contest result.

Here is the point: It's not fair, because even the round is hard but with this Skip trick, you won't get decrease in rating. I wish CF may fix this problem.

Suggestion: the Skip users should get some kind of penalties such as decrease rating or point, or ban them from few contests.

I think that if you cheat on CodeChef the rating system treats you as if you didn't solve anything.

Banning people from a few contests won't really work with those who are serious about their rating, unless it is something like a 6-month ban.

Yea I just want people who participate in contests should be more serious on their work, not just focus on their "fake" rating by cheating

Totally agree with you, man. Nowadays, a lot of cf users treat cf rounds irresponsibly. In order to change this awful and disgusting attitude I suggest three simple rules:

      1. Every cf round participant turns off his/her phone during the round.
      2. During cf round you can't go to a bathroom without an independent observer.
      3. Once a week every cf user sends MikeMirzayanov his/her urine and Mike tests it for doping.

Man I'm serious about this problem, your suggestions 1 and 2 will work when participating in contests which take place somewhere, but the third one is absolutely trolling

I appreciate your opinion, but can you be a little bit more specific. Why do you think third one is trolling?

In my point of view, if the third one comes true, then Codeforces will be the place for people to test the use of doping, not for coding anymore

I agree that Codeforces is mainly a platform for coding, but please don't forget that rating also matters. I know that there are companies where they consider your rating, before offering you a job. Because of that, identifying a cheater is a serious issue, as they corrupt everyone's rating.

So I propose two layered protection:

              1. Check code for plagiarism
              2. Check urine for doping

For cf user it is a simple procedure: pee into the bottle and send it to Mike, but for cf community it would be a huge improvement.

Just don't do that, rating shows how you are doing in contests, if you cheat on yourself, you can do nothing

someone posted this years back and... still no fix. Should just completely wipe 300 points off the cheater's rating in my opinion.

Why you gotta be so rude? Sometimes people cheat without knowing, what about people losing their code on Ideone for exemple?

And talk about cheaters and the one who help cheaters, if I'm not wrong, only the one who copy the code of others get Skipped, but I think the helpers should be punished too, because they support the others to cheat, or cheaters create clone account for the actions.

I am a little more restrained on this one, because there are always accident and security issue (remember one contest whole bunch of red codes somehow got leaked?), but if it can be shown it was deliberate, then it should apply the same punishment.

I've been thinking about that recently and, in my point of view, the authors should have the responsibility to protect their code when participating in contests. For example, in my country(Vietnam), both cheater and author get the same punishment, the author if not deliberate, then because of his carelessness

It wasn't careless, the codeforces system itself got hacked. It wasn't their fault at all. If author shared with cheater, he should get same punishment, but having your code leaked because of codeforces error is definitely not the same as cheating on purpose, or even carelessness.

How could he copy code from other contestants? I don't really get it. Is there a bug in CF system? And how did his contest result get skipped?

Cheater will first solve easy problem on dummy account. If the contest goes badly, cheater will copy code from his alternate account and submit, then his main account will get skipped verdict, so there is no rating loss.

Or simply ask someone who is also participating in the round, such as friends, the author doesn't get any punishment
