Haha. I got +170 with that. I feel like I don't deserve even +70 in the last div3 round.

There are lots of platforms for solving easy problems for practice or for job interview. And there is a website for practicing those easy problems like contest, called "vjudge".

Maybe codeforces is forgetting about those OJs. For that it's wanting to be beginner friendly. Um_nik said about this 19 months ago

I wouldn't mind if the div4 rounds are like last div3 ones. Because you know you have one problem which is in the level of div2D. But, for the first div4 round, it's definitely a cancer.

If they add rating increase limits to div3 and div4(rating won't go over 1600 for Div.3 and 1400 for Div.4 even if you solve all problems) your problem will be solved.

Oops I think you can't read my comment tho lol

Yeah what I see is, there are many blues who are complaining about the unexpected positive delta that div 3 and div 4 peoples gain but same apply on them too. There are many div 2 contestants who gain unexpected delta and become orange directly which is also wrong at the same time. But there's a positive side too as it is like free rating for us because they get +300 and in next div1 statistically more likely to fall

:) Or probable they're rating is a lie and they've kept they're rating low to blow up some minds.

Exactly! Can't agree more. Recently I also wrote a blog regarding the issues with CF rating system which despite getting decent support from the community was totally ignored by Codeforces moderation!

Common, it is not a feedback. It is just a trolling or it's a common grunt that many years ago the grass was greener.

The number of Div1 rounds is about the same through all the history of Codeforces. During the last year, we hosted ~42 rounds for div1. Two years ago it was 37.

Huge inflation? 2.5 years ago the number of reds was 0.34%, now it is 0.36%. Even if we remove all users who took part in less than 10 contests (say, most double accounts) and take into account only active accounts, the inflation during 2.5 years is ~12.5%. It is noticeable but not huge. Probably, it can be explained, among other things, by an increase in the professionalism of the community, and not just by the rating flaws.

I think that this percentage is just due to CP getting popular in general, and thus a huge influx of newbie/specialist coders and a somewhat proportional increase in reds (which shouldn't be the case btw).

Rating inflation is totally real. It is so less prestigious to become a master these days. One good educational round and bam, you are orange.

I thus, obviously think it is totally justifiable to go back to Div.2 being rated just for < 1900 rating. Or just make these educational rounds unrated for purples.

I am totally one of those weak oranges that the OP is talking about and it feels bad. I would rather be strong and low rated rather than weak and high rated.

I don't see many complains about reds. But lots of people (including me) think that master has become too easy. I would love to know old and current percentage of orange.

  • Actually, the number of rated (or at least supposed-to-be-rated) Div. 1 rounds (not including combined rounds) in the first 5 months of this year is more than the number of these rounds in the first 5 months of 2018.
Rated/supposed-to-be-rated Div. 1 rounds in the first 5 months of 2020 (13 in total):
Rated/supposed-to-be-rated Div. 1 rounds in the first 5 months of 2018 (11 in total):
  • I don't understand how "only 300 active reds" and "no CMs in div2" are advantages. Wherever you set the Div. 1 lower bound, there always will be some people going back and forth between the two divisions (because they're still not strong enough for being in Div. 1, but they're among the strongest coders in Div. 2).

  • "strong oranges" was just the result of Div. 2 upper bound being equal to Expert upper bound and I don't see this as an advantage, too.
