Hi everyone,

many people are a bit disappointed because, for example, while the most difficult problems of Div. 3 contests are still interesting for Div. 2, Div. 3 contests are unrated for higher divisions. The same argument is valid for Div. 2 and Div. 4 contests.

An idea could be make contests rated for everyone, but that's not the best solution because, to reach a $$$\geq 1900$$$ rating, solving Div. 3 and Div. 4 problems very fast would be enough.

An improvement could be make contests partially rated for higher divisions, that is, the rating variation is multiplied by a $$$k$$$ factor ($$$0 \leq k \leq 1$$$) that depends on the target division of the contest and on the initial rating of the contestant (i. e. the relevance of that contest for that contestant). An example: there's a Div. 2 contest, then $$$k$$$ could be $$$1$$$ for a $$$1900$$$ rated contestant, $$$0.8$$$ for a $$$2100$$$ rated contestant, $$$0.5$$$ for a $$$2200$$$ rated contestant, etc.

not a really great idea. Another suggestion is to nerf Div 3/4 rating delta increase as they are op. Literally, someone whose real rating is mid pupil can ez jump to Mid specialist just from a div 4 contest. This also happens to Div 3 but is at least slightly less. But still, both needs a nerf especially Div 4.

These two ideas don't collide, both can be implemented at the same time. Anyway, what's wrong with my suggestion? It just generalizes the extension of Div. 2 only rating upper bound from 1900 to 2100.

The bad thing about it is speed-forces part. For example, If I took part in Div 3, I need to speed-force A,B,C,D,E.(I usually cannot solve F) Someone solving A,B,C,D,E very fast will increase a lot compared to another who solved it a bit slower.

One idea where my teammate and I agreed that would be nice (maybe other people do not like it) was border for maximum rating after some type of contest. For example $$$div 2$$$ contest is rated for people until $$$2100$$$ anyway, you can set border for maximum rating like $$$2200$$$ and rating for all people in range $$$[2100-2200]$$$ will be changed only in case it increases and it can not become bigger $$$2200$$$ in any moment. So contest become "rated for everyone" like combined round and everybody are calculated in rating change, but if you are $$$div 1$$$ and have $$$2200+$$$ your rating won't be changed for sure.
